old color TVs can support components, just look at the back of your TV.There will be a component port

----------

HDMI are the best for HD,but Components are good too.I used to play with Components on my PS3

----------

and Amin,i was looking at the IPTV,cable, dth forums. There is no unified thread for all of them like there is in the broadband forums like this

Broadband in India

You should create one like 'TV viewing in India'.There should be a unified sub-forum in the cable, dth, iptv forums

i guess i would check out. my Philips CRT TV is a pretty recent model.

i bought it over a LCD because it was much cheaper and suited my usage.

10K for a 29" CRT is a much better deal compared to 35K for a 25" LCD. (last year prices).

i had no need for high definition content. i do not watch too much television so was not worried about power consumption as well.

i am not sure how i would differenciate between component and composite cables. :D

DTH - Cable - FM - IPTV - CAS

hey admin saw you super large pic of stb,you should remove it now or put a link under your first smaller image for the big one.It is making the forums quite unviewable.

yeah. was thinking about that. its of no use as the text is not even clear. i suck at macro photography.

composite cables are white, red, yellow in color and its ports colors are the same tooComponents are RED,GREEN,BLUE in colors and its ports too

ah right the color codes. i was being stupid. only red is common in both. tv has three different set of ports i think with modes for all of them. lets see if one of them is component. i have my doubts because i used to connect my wii too to this tv and it had the similar cables to the airtel stb.

All the console mankers like Sony for PS2 and Nintendo for Wii provide composite cable cause they are the cheapest cables available.

For the PS3 Sony had to give Components cables cause composite doesn't support anything above 480i uplsacled resolutio, and PS3 is 1080p native resolution.

you have to buy a component cable.you can also check whether your TV supports component by scrolling through the AV menu like AV1,AV2,AV3,Component.

Normal Av is composite.

@admin

didn't understand your comment.

"at nights if i run my torrents at full throttle (that means many simultaneous downloads with tons of connections)... my television stream becomes unstable."

does both IPTV and your PC broadband use the same connection.Aren't Airtel broadband and Airtel IPTV two different departments or do they work together. Also how much do you pay.Do you pay some cost for broadband and some additional cost for IPTV?

airtel iptv is a part of their broadband service. i get a combined bill for both. its post paid and it rocks coz i dont have to run to get recharges. i can pay as per my convenience. movie on demand and other charges are added to the bill. the unified bill concept is awesome. as for the problems with torrents... i guess the router i have been provided is not very powerful so it struggles to maintain iptv streams when the torrent clients are being aggressive. you would have noticed that websites would fail to load when you are running a torrent client. most of the times it is because of too many connections rather than lack of availability of bandwidth.

iam using airel for a long period, i just now changed my plan to 2Mbps unlimited 5 moths before, iam getting 2mbps speed for downloading, but when i upload its limit to 1Mbps only. i asked customer care, they said if download has problem then they would take it as complaint, they would not care about uploading. :banghead: iam struggling with torrents to maintain ratio. what shall i do any sugesstions
