Pls note I cudnt post this msg on my con and have posted it via my blackberry! Hi guys, I am using BSNL at my parents house in Manali. The connection just got activated* 3 days ago and I just realize there is no upload speed. I am on Home 250 plan and download speeds are upto 1MB but speedtest.net shows no upload speed. When I try to upload an image on wordpress or flickr etc, the task is unsucessful and it shows request time out. Since I am use to Airtel and right now in Manali, I have no idea what to do. I have called up the exchange who have told me to come with the modem and my laptop and they will check. I can send attachments to email but thats about it. Apparently the connection was configured by one of the local guys and not a BSNL techie and its been configured to PPOE. Does that make a difference? Since Manali is a small town, the guys dont really know what the problem is and think we have to "bridge" the connection. However I though there would be a problem at BSNL end and not mine since I can surf and download. Please help!

See this website : Never seen a Blackberry Phone and unlikely in future !

Also Govt Of India may deny RIM Blackberry facility of Internet connectivity in India, on security reasons,as they have refused to give access to the surfing/call data of the users. ( Whether Indian ISP's have been instructed , no idea )
For my reference : Need to upload or download some large files while traveling? No problem. Wherever you get cellular network coverage you can use certain BlackBerry® smartphones as a wireless modem for your computer.1 Whether you connect it to your BlackBerry smartphone using Bluetooth® technology or using the provided USB cable, you’ve got Internet access for your computer just about anywhere you go.

The following BlackBerry smartphones include wireless modem functionality2:

* BlackBerry® 7130c
* BlackBerry® 7130e
* BlackBerry® 7250

No need to carry a wireless PC card – simply connect and browse the web and exchange files at broadband speeds.

Same problem.btw the bsnl guys didn't give us a splitter.is that imp?

Hi went to the exchange and got everything tested. The problem arises only when I am in Pppoe mode and now the settings have been changed to bridge.While its a relief to know that there is no problem in the line, now I am still stuck. I want two laptops to be connected to our line up and how do I set up wireless with my Netgear router again?Basically I want my macbook to be connected (wirelessly or with ethernet) but cant because I need to dial up the connection from my dads windows laptop!
