.I have BSNL Broadband installed with ADSL2+ Modem through USB port of PC using RJ11 cable. The RJ45 port in modem and the cable with RJ45 terminals are available as spare to be utilized for Ethernet connection,
.BSNL have configured the modem recently for Ethernet also. They have suggested to me to install Ethernet if I require.
.The motherboard of my PC is Intel (original) of type D845GLLY.Ethernet and Fast Ethernet are integrated in the motherboard according to Intel Document. But RJ45 jack is not provided at the rear.
.In my opinion, If Ethernet is not integrated in motherboard; a network interface card (NIC) may have to be installed in a PCI slot of PC (with its jack facing towards the outside of the PC). The cable with RJ45 terminals can then be connected to the concerned jacks in modem and NIC.
.When it is integrated (as said to be the position in D845GLLY) an USB-Ethernet adapter should serve the purpose and that should be the actual need.
I request comments and advice. I may be also enlightened on the type of adapter relevant to my modem and the motherboard of my PC. (If they are also the factors to be considered).D845GLLY is enabled to support USB 2 peripherals.
