usb ethernet adapter

1.I have BSNL Broadband installed with ADSL2+ Modem through USB port of PC using RJ11 cable. The RJ45 port in modem and the cable with RJ45 terminals are available as spare to be utilized for Ethernet connection,

2.BSNL have configured the modem recently for Ethernet also. They have suggested to me to install Ethernet if I require.

3.The motherboard of my PC is Intel (original) of type D845GLLY.Ethernet and Fast Ethernet are integrated in the motherboard according to Intel Document. But RJ45 jack is not provided at the rear.

4.In my opinion, If Ethernet is not integrated in motherboard; a network interface card (NIC) may have to be installed in a PCI slot of PC (with its jack facing towards the outside of the PC). The cable with RJ45 terminals can then be connected to the concerned jacks in modem and NIC.

5.When it is integrated (as said to be the position in D845GLLY) an USB-Ethernet adapter should serve the purpose and that should be the actual need.
I request comments and advice. I may be also enlightened on the type of adapter relevant to my modem and the motherboard of my PC. (If they are also the factors to be considered).D845GLLY is enabled to support USB 2 peripherals.

2 Assumption in Para 4 If there is an integrated ethernet card it can be used.
Not sure/familiar with the physical connections. Check again for a RJ45 port near the VGA outlet. Please wait for other responses.
(Or You can buy an external ethernet card. but above has to be disabled in BIOS settings)
3. Point 5 little confusing. You have to check in Device Manager , whether there is a built in ethernet card.
Only one connection to a USB port for Internet. Other USB ports for Mouse, camera etc.
Para two : If BSNL have given you a working connection by using the USB port
of the modem and computer do not disturb.
2. Telephone junction ==== RJ11 cable normally used for telephones toADSL splitter.
Adsl splitter==RJ11= PHONE PORT>>> All your phones including cordless base.
Adslsplitter ADSL PORT RJ11 cable ==>> to modem.
From Modem USBPORT to Computer USB port.
From MOdem LANPORT RJ45 ( 8 connections cable) will go to new Ethernet port in Computer.
3. You may have a telephone like socket in the back of the computer , and this is most likely for DIALUP 56K modem(Internally fixed or as a PCI card ). Not used for BB.

if you want to add a LAN card you could do so in the PCI slots.. a new LAN should cost approx 200rs
