USB Stick doesnt goto 3G mode .help pls.

I bought Vodafone K3570-Z USB Stick few days back (Vodafone Mobile Broadband USB Stick).It doesnt switch to 3G no matter what i do. It always connects on EDGE network .3G network is available in my area .I already sent 2-3 sms to 111 ( ACT 3G ) . got the initial automated reply but never that 3g has been activated .I tried choosing network manually from the vodafone broadband software ,tried selecting Vodafone 3g . the stick LED started blinking light blue ( for 3g ) instead of the green ( for edge ) for some seconds, but software gave msg that it could not establish connection . so had to switch back to edge again .*141*10# -> it shows 4 gb download remaining for 3g .I bought this from a local shop , he recharged my sim with a plan of rs. 425 which gives me 4gb data limit . but maybe he never activated 3g on the sim or something .I inserted another person's sim (from vodafone customer care) in the stick n it automatically connected to 3g . But the same doesnt happen with my sim n always connects to edge netwowrk only .I went to vodafone customar care office in pune , they hardly knew anything though .In case any more details are needed ,pls post .Would be grateful for any help on this matter .I am pretty pissed with the stick n customercare n the shopwaala atm . Been 10 days .

so problem not with data card. you say other person's 3G sim is working in 3G mode.So Voda has not activated 3G. your data pack is 3G pack or Gprs pack ?First you have put the sim in a 3G phone and insert in data card only after you 3G status in tour 3 G phone and not before. I have activated 3G in Voda 2-3 times but always in the phone first.
