📢 Hey guys! Just wanted to share how I’m using my own router with Excitel Broadband 🛜✨

I’ve been an Excitel customer since 2022, and back then they provided their own router. It worked, but I had issues — especially with high ping during gaming 🎮. So, I left Excitel.

Fast forward to December 2024, I came back to Excitel again. This time, I wanted to use my own TP-Link Wi-Fi 6 router, mainly because it has better coverage 📶, support for EasyMesh, and gives me more control.

But yeah... they refused to let me use my own router 😑. They wanted me to stick with theirs.

So, I raised a ticket and waited. For three whole months, nothing useful happened. I was honestly ready to switch ISPs again.

One day, while scrolling through LinkedIn, I found Excitel Broadband’s posts and dropped some honest comments explaining my situation. Luckily, someone from their team (Shreya Sharma) reached out. She escalated the issue.

They initially told me that 1G ONU support isn’t possible, and even tried resetting my connection — that didn’t work either.

They said they’d cancel my connection and refund me. I agreed. But throughout, I kept saying:

🗣️ "As a customer, I should have the freedom to use my own router!"

Their routers are locked down 🔐 and don’t give the flexibility or control I need. I wanted my own router to manage all traffic, especially for a more secure and optimized home network.

After some time (not sure what happened internally), they enabled Bridge Mode in their router.

Here’s the key part:
They simply changed the connection name from “Internet” to “IPTV”, which activates Bridge Mode ✅ even though it’s a locked router.

Once Bridge Mode was enabled, I connected my own TP-Link router to it and set up PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet) on my router.

Now I’m getting internet directly from Excitel via PPPoE through my own router, with Bridge Mode active on their ONU 🔥

💡 So yeah — that’s how I got it working:
Bridge Mode on Excitel’s router + PPPoE set up on my TP-Link router = Stable internet, low ping, better range, and full control 🎯

Hope this helps anyone who wants to use their own router with Excitel 💬✌️
