Videocon D2H HD DVR User Experience and Review

Hello Everybody,This forum has help me a lot. And so I am writting my review for D2H DVRFinally I bought HD DVR on 11th May morning. At evening 07:00pm their man came. But on looking at HD-DVR they informed that they have brought dish for normal setup box and it will not get installed.Ok, happens.....On 12th May their man came at afternoon around 02:00om, installed the HD-DVR replaced my old dish and placed new big dish. They also activated 136+tax package on it within minutes. BUT MAIN THING FOR WHICH I EXCHANGED MY STB , FOR RECORDING, IS NOT WORKING.It is giving error like " STARTING FAILED: E101-29:NOT AUTHORIZED TO ACCESS HD-DVR SERVICE"He informed me that it will get activated in 24 hours. But I smelled that he is trying to escape from his responsibility. Soon he left I called CC and there she informed that recording facility should get activated instantly. And they will send engineer.I am fan of videocon, and if electronic item of videocon is available I don't go for other company. Firstly, their after sales service is excellent, and secondly I prefer to purchase items from Indian company rather then foreign company. But in this case my experince is little bit different. On phone they are saying there is problem and they will send technician and it should get activated instantly. But their technician is saying total different thing. He is saying it will get activated from company automatically.I am sandwitched between both of them. Lets see when I will get solution to my problem. 24 hours are passed yet not acivated.Also their remote is 3rd class. The man who came to install , was able to activate only volume increase butoon on universal remote. He informed that there is problem with my TV and other function will not get activated and I have to use both remote. BUT EARLIER I WAS USING VIDEOCON NORMAL SETTOPBOX AND IN THAT UNIVERSAL REMOTE WAS ACTIVE WITH ALL FUNCTION. So this is the 2nd problem he tried to escape.Normally, videocon technian do not do this type of escape. I am using other appliances also.After he went , I tried to active other key on remote, and I was successfull in ON/OFF button, which he was not. But still I can only do ON/OFF and volume increase. Other button likes volume decrease, mute, TV/AV are not working at allRemote of old STB was very good. big switch, even old person like my mom and dad were able to use it very confirtably. But this remote is very much conjusted. Too many switches and too small. My parents cant use it without specks or without difficulties. Also switches are hard. Dont know remote is new thats why or it is a problem.Also, 2nd problem is that, while switching on TV , HD-DVR gets switch on automatically, THATS VERY GOOD, but most of the time it does not get switch on automatically. There is 100% some problem with HD-DVR and remote. 3rd problem is that on site they informed that we can record for 200 hours. I earlier post here that can we increase this through external memory or not, and I got reply no. BUT I AM SHOCKED THAT IN TV UNDER SETTING THEY SHOWS ONLY 71 HOURS. AND IN THEIR MANUAL ITSELF IT IS WRITTEN THAT RECORDING CAN BE DONE FOR MAXIMUM OF100 HOURS IS NORMAL VIDEO AND 30-35 HOURS IN 30-35 HD VIDEO.THOSE WHO PURCHASED CAN REFER THEN FAQS IN MAUAL. WHY SUCH MISGUIDING. ON WEBSITE SOMETHING ELSE, AND ON MANUAL SOMETHING ELSE AND ON TV UNDER SETTING SOMETHING ELSE.There is 100% some problem with my DVR . But it seems that they will not provide solution easily or change it easilyI have read some case here, that they got relief/solution after 20-30 days under D2H DVR and 50-100 phone calls. But it my case, only 2 days are passed, lets see when I get solution.

3) remote ab universel mode par kaise kaam karraha hai?
4) aur channel chainging me jo time leta hai kya vo kam hogaya?
5)user interface kaisa hai?

mai bhi hd dvr lenachahatahoon, mere paas hd tv nahi hai sirf recording ke liye leneki sochrahahoon.

1. yes, problem got solved. But for that i had to goto the dealer with the STB. I demanded refund. So he put pressure on CC and then on same day at 09:00pm it was solved. 3 days after purchasing.
2. no still it is 71 hour. I know this is wrong, but due to lack of time, i have accepted it . What to do ? You also understand that for this issue, nobody can leave their routine work. And if i fight with them for even 1 hour, my rest 23 hours gets spoiled. If you are ok with 71 hrs than you can go for it.
3. remote is not working as universal remote. But it has all common function volume increase / decrease of STB ,,,,, NOT TV....... so I have adjusted with it. For TV on/off we have to use separate remote.
4. Yes, it is taking some time, as other has reported, but I personally do not think it as big issue.it takes at the most 3 seconds. not more than that. For me its ok.
5. user interface is easy

there are small bugs, like in rewind/ forward, pause, if you will not give it some time and press 1 or other keys fast then it might gets hangs. if you will check channel guide 10 times, then 1 or 2 times you may not see program list

overall.... you can go for it. there CC is good. this was my 1st bad experience. else they are very good. for 1 case we cant say them anything. i also think that they have cheapest package.
 
Good explanation!!But I think Universal Remote can be easily done. Dont know if the engineer is acting lazy, or the Remote is faulty.Other issues are genuine, but can be easily ignored. Coz all DTH players will have their own minor issues, which have to be ignored.
 
Yes, univesal remote can be easily done, and it was there with all function when i was using old STB WITHOUT RECORDING of videocon itselfbut in this new STB WITH RECORDING, they and I myself were not able to activate VOLUME DECREASE and MUTE . Thats why I am not using it as universal remote. I think problem is not with my TV, it should be with remote, because in old STB WITHOUT RECORDING all functions were working well. Anyway not a big issue. Now I am ok with it.In fact, now I am switching off my TV from main, this helps to save electricty. Though it may not be much, but even sea is made up of small drops.
 
Yeah thinking green is always good!!As far as my case is concerned, i dont like to have Universal functions active. I specifically told the engineer not to make it a Universal remote!!

matlab new NON HDDVR cunnection lene par mujhe 250rs ka recharge voucher milatha. eh benifit upgrade karne par bhi milta hai ya nahi?

vaise upgrade karne par 3999rs box + 500rs installation =4499rs online par purches kiyato 4290rs uske saat 1000rs hamare d2h ke account me vapas bhi milta hai!

are yaar abhi pata (website par reqvest diya to d2h se phone aaya) chala ki bangalore me online purchess available nahi hai electrronic shop se 200rs jyada deke kharidna padega
 
hamare liye bahut buri khabar hai, VIDEOCON d2h ke online support team ek mahinese onlinese hi gayab hai. https://broadband.forum ke alava saaveondish.com parbhi vaah team ek mahine se gayab hai. iske alava email ka bhi javab nahi derahehai.
