i read on this forum that with the SD box you could watch other FTA channels. so i thought maybe possible with the HD box also. and the card is paired as well! damn!

Even you can't use SD box too. d2h had locked all its boxes with software update. it was a fault and they rectified it. So, bad luck for RnD guys

I would like to list my experience on Videocon D2D HD connection that i bought online. I am attaching below a copy of the email which i shot at their customercare and i am sure i wont be getting any reply though!HelloI bought your D2H hd connection online which i got installed and activated on 10th September 2010. I would like to show you a screenshot of the exact offer that i purchased online.The offer clearly states the following:-I pay Rs 2600/- which includes Rs1000/- for installation as well.Apart from this i get:-> Free Platinum HD pack for 1 month worth Rs 441/-> Rs 400 cash backSo according to the above offer i should have a total of Rs 841/- in my account. I have been talking to your hopeless customer care who have been rudely telling me that the free HD platinum pack is only valid for 27 days.27 DAYS, PLEASE SHOW ME IN THE ABOVE SCREENSHOT OR ON YOUR OWN WEBSITE, WHERE IS IT WRITTEN 27 DAYS AND NOT 1 MONTH!This is a clear case of cheating and making a fool of the customer. On top of that when i ask your customer care, they have the authority to talk to me rudely and eventually i was told, "lena hai to lo, yahi hai". After my 30 mins long converstaion with you customer care on 20th september, which by the way your customer care gladly cut it twice after putting me on hold for a long time:-I was told that i am deducted @ Rs14.49/- per day from my HD platinum pack.So taking into account this calculation, My usage from 10th sep to 20th sep, i.e. 11 days is 11 X 14.49 = 159.39Subtract this usage from my total account balance, i.e. 841- 159.39 = 681.61However my account balance is being shown as Rs. 676.31Also my due date is being wrongly shown as 6th NOV (which is exactly after 27 days and not 30/31 days). It should clearly be 10th NOV.Please rectify these mistakes otherwise i woudl like to terminate my connection as this is a clear case of cheating the customer. And please give some training to your pathetic and rude customer care--ThanksAnkit Prashar

I think what is being shown, is in fact 1 day extra than what u r supposed to get. Rs.400 Cashback + Rs.441 of free Platinum HD pack = Rs.841 in all.Now, the month of September has 30 days. So 441/30 = 14.7 per day. And at this rate, at the end of 30 days, ur balance will remain at 400 Rs.To be on a safer side, more favorable for u, lets assume from now, they will deduct at 441/31 = 14.22 per day (Being October). That comes to about 28 days.So, in all u r eligible for 58 days of viewing.Now calculate that from ur installation date.......starting on 10th September:21 days of September+31 days of October means 52 days are gone. So now.......u shud have been eligible for only 6 days of November as against which, they are giving u that fraction of a day as full day, extending ur expiry period upto 7th.

Its a bit confusing for me to be honest. Moreover the customer care didn't really help me by saying that my free 1 month of HD platinum is infact only for 27 dayswhich really got me confused and worried. Although the initial amount in question is very small,i was getting more worried was the fact that if the same (mis)calculation would extend to subsequent months i would end up paying more that what is required. Also i was worried that by 1 month they would mean only 27 days and i have no idea why the d2h customer care kept on insisting that its only free for 27 days,Thanks for explaining the calculation!BTW, i noticed that HD channels like NGC, Discovery and Star World are not really showing latest shows (or the ones being telecast simulatneously on their SD channels). It gets a bit boring by watching only simpsons, master chef, some wild-life animal shows and some ocean/shark program on each of these channelsall day long! I think atleast Star World HD should update all its tv shows to HD and so should NGC.Anyone having any idea of a certain TenSports HD for d2h?

That happens initially. It takes time to understand calculations. It took me also some time before i understood it! For repetition of shows.......yeah it does get repeated. Thats coz they have lesser & shorter breaks i think. But i dont have any idea of whats cooking on Star World. I have never watched it - neither SD, nor HD.Lastly, Ten Sports HD - D2h doesnt have it right now, but lets hope they bring more HD channels in time to come!

Booked the DVR and got it delivered today, expecting installation tomorrow.Out of curiosity just opened the box and found no HDMI cable inside?What is your experience? Is it in the box or brought by the Engineers seperately?Manufactured by on box is written some South African company, but the instrument is labelled as "Made in China"!!!!!!!!!!Mfg date is shown on box is "OCT 2010"Am I getting the right thing, please help.Thanks in advance

It sud be in the box. When tomorrow engineer call you for installation, ask him that Box given to you is one year old and also HDMI Cable is missing. So, he sud bring a New DVR with him and replace the old stock. Why compromise, when you are paying the full amount to them without any discount.
