Oct 2010 can still be "OK". But i dont remember mine being Chinese make. It was a South African make.

I saw the product's manufacturer on the box & traced out this entity. Also the features of the box almost match the 1 provided to us. Just that it is customised by D2h to some xtent.

Thanx for the info. In my case only one box containing DVR instrument is supplied. Hope the Engineer will bring the second box containing the cable, application form, satellite card etc. Dealer says they are selling / or they get only the DVRs, and the company supplies the card etc.- Thanx

So i think, after the initial roll-out, they wud have out-sourced the production to China, to reduce the transportation costs may be. Lets see what Mascot has to say about his make.

Hi Anil, Yes the instrument is made in China, but Altech's monogram is clearly visible at the back. May be Altech is having a mfg unit in China, or subcontracted.
I don't know what is the need for Videocon to source it thro South Africa - China, when every one gets it directly from China, that too with out Made In China label.

Talking about the need for Videocon, its simple......they must have found the quotation from the S.African manufacturer the best in terms of requirements & pricing. SO they wud sign the deal. Now where does this manufacturer actually make the product, is totally the decision of the manufacturer. I think that is the reason why they were able to reduce the price of HD DVR just about a month of its launchI bought the DVR for 6500 or so, and just a month later it costed 4500. So obviously the 2k reduction can be possible if some factor changed drastically.

I would update by evening after checking it. Also is manufacturing date is same for everyone here or its different ??

I bought in Feb 2011, so its quite normal if i got a product of Oct 2010 batch.

hddvr hee alag copany se aaraha hai, mere paas jo normal stb tha vah videocon ka hee mfg(shayad aurangabaad) tha.

Now thats interesting! But r u sure its HD DVR? They seem to be making SD boxes in Aurangabad, and i have no idea about the HD Zapper boxes.
