Vista Installation errror

Am trying to install Windows Vista on my system, and when am trying to format partition D, its throwing error as "Windows cannot format 0x800424of". Although its formatting C drive normally. Earlier I had Windows Vista Ultimate in C drive and windows 7 in D drive. My system config is:AMD Phenom 2.2Ghz, 3GB DDR2 RAM, 500GB WD HDD, Nvidia 9400GT Graphics Card. Any help would be appreciated !!

I guess you need to format whole of Hard Disk...

Use hiren boot cd to boot, and try to format it with different software available in it. I guess it has also got software to repair bad sectors. Try it, it will surely solve the problem.
