As much as I know, for now you are supposed to call CC or drop a tweet regarding 5G
if 5G trials is active on your location

for ex, I live in Mumbai and 5G trials are going on before March 1st, hence they activated 5G on my sim

btw you need minimum 299Rs monthly prepaid plan for 5G to work

Guys, I have a conspiracy theory

since the beginning of Vi 5G trials in Mumbai, whenever I run 5G, it keeps deducting data from my 4G plan

what if this is planned by Vi to Give users Airtel 5G early adopter experience (Oct 2022 to early 2023) when Airtel deducted data from 4G plans.

Recharge with a Unlimited plan from VI to confirm if this continues. And NSA has this experience so it's not limited to Airtel or VI. As coverage increases it will smoothen out and data won't be deducted. I was using Airtel from the start and 4G data was never deducted as coverage was good enough.

How much spectrum does vi has anyway? , i am doubting they have 100 mhz in n78 band. Having nsa 5g over 4g does not make much of a difference i believe.

I’m not sure about how these spectrum thingy works but people have said that Vi doesn’t have enough spectrum

And the upcoming Vi 5G would slow down 4G as its NSA and dependent on 4G

Instead of doing these speedtests and exhausting your data, try to do something which a regular user would do with 5G, like watching videos on the go, notice if there is any buffering while watching live match on JioHotstar. Also how fast the UPI payments go through, does it get stuck or anything. How is the ping while playing BGMI or COD? . Try attending a zoom meeting or google meet call via 5G hotspot and see if it is still sluggish like 4G. I think this is the biggest jump I have seen from 4G to 5G, I have taken tons of zoom calls on the go via Airtel 5G hotspot and it works great. Also UPI payments go a lot faster now and have low failure rate(might be more of a UPI infra optimization IDK). Since Airtel is offering unlimited 5G with the postpaid plan I am on, I never have to worry about the data, always have used it like a broadband connection only.
The only big issue with Airtel 5G is poor reception across multiple buildings which is kind of obvious, hence I can't take calls inside my home without VoWiFi turned on.
I don't think speedtest result is a good metric to judge the connection quality. Pings might vary from server to server and real life download speeds on mobile data are bad even on Airtel and Jio 5G. On speedtest.net it shows maybe 300-400Mbps but when I try to download something from the App Store, it takes a lot of time, not even close to what speeds are shown in the speedtest result.

I had this in Mind where id show speedtests from really busy areas in Mumbai

1.Andheri station east side
2.maybe some inside local trains while its moving ,since a lot of people complain that vi falls to 2g in local trains
3.sitting on marine lines
4.inside home
5.overall pings

Etc etc

But then barely a few ppl would watch it probably

But idk
I might just do it

You don’t see 5G trials everyday
