The simplest solution though would be to just get an iPhone plan activated. Then you don't have to setup any APNs as they are already configured on your iPhone.

LOL couldnt agree more.

Set up internet / GPRS on iPhone - it worked:urock::urock::urock:

Hi all,

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOW YOU CAN CONFIGURE INTERNET / GPRS ON IPHONE WITHOUT INSTALLING ANY CRACKING OR HACKING SOFTWARE ON UR IPHONE. YOU CAN DO IT IN JUST 5 MINS.

ALL YOU NEED IS iPhone Configuration Utility software.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

a lot of people are asking how to setup / configure internet or GPRS on iPhone. even at one time i spend hours and hours to setup gprs on my iphone and worst part is that i dont have "cellular data network" option in my iphone but even though i am able to successfully configure vodafone live gprs on my iphone.

here are the steps:

step 1: you need to download a software "iPhone Configuration Utility"

step 2: connect your iphone & launch the program then click on configuration profiles.

Step 3: click on Advance option on your left hand side then click on configure button.

Step 4: enter "portalnmms" in first field which Access Point Name (APN)

Step 5: enter "10.10.1.100" in the last field proxy server

Step 6: enter "9401" in the last field Proxy Port

Step 7: That's all save the profile by any name like "vodafone"

Step 8 : Click on your device on the left hand side and choose Configuration Profiles.

Step 9: Click on Install option and soon you will see a pop on your iPhone asking your permission to install the configuration simply allow and you are done.

LAUNCH THE SAFARI BROWSER AND SURF THE INTERNET !!!!!!!!!!!:wewin::wewin::wewin::wewin::wewin:

response, reviews, and suggestions are welcome

try and post your feedback.

Good Luck to all !!!!!!!!:iplay:

yeah i know that unlockit does the same thing, however if done with iPhone config utility some apps will not work, like whatsapp, skype, viber, shazam app store , itunes store etc. And in my opinion i dont think people really have the patience to actually go ahead to do all the stuff with the config utility. And i feel that the unlockit makes everything really easy and user friendly. What would you rather use the config or unlockit

I've been using the iPhone configuration utility to set up my APNs for several years now. I've not had any issues and all of my apps work. I do agree that unlockit is a simpler solution and I recommend that to people who are not familiar with the config utility. The simplest solution though would be to just get an iPhone plan activated. Then you don't have to setup any APNs as they are already configured on your iPhone.

So with this 2GB 99 rs plan all my apps etc will work right?

Can you post and ensure what its called so I make sure to get right thing from Vodafone.

Unfortunately Vodafone does not have the 2GB (2G data) @ Rs 99 plan. The iPhone plans are 3GB@199 / 5GB@299 / 10GB@599.

If you want the 2GB@99 plan, then ask them to activate the Vodafone Mobile Connect (VMC) Rs 99 plan. Then setup your APN using either the unlockit website or the iPhone Configuration Utility. See my earlier post in this thread for steps to follow if you're using the unlockit website. If you opt for one of the iPhone plans then no APN setup is required.

All apps will work if you are using any of the VMC or iPhone plans. Let me know if you face any issues.

I read somewhere that when you 'attempt to port' out of Vodafone (via PORT message) Vodafone Retention calls you to keep you with them. At the time, you can negotiate stuff like this.. 2G @ 99Rs Plan. Which apparently is a normal GPRS thing & not specific iPhone plan.

Are you saying that the latest iPhone plans are 3GB @ 199 - That is 2G/EDGE right ? Where are these plans listed? Is this available in Mumbai & how can I activate them?

PS: Which plan are you using and where are you located?

The last I paid was 200/350 Rs for 100 MB iPhone plan.. Highway robbery!.

The 2G data plans are listed under the Vodafone Mobile Connect section on their website. I don't think they have an iPhone page on the website anymore. So I'm not sure where those plans are listed on the website. But the website does say that all plans are applicable for iPhone as well. I got the list from the Vodafone store.

I'm in Hyderabad. I was on the Unlimited data @ 599 plan before I switched to 3G. That plan worked well for me as my monthly usage was around 3-4 GB.

Easiest way to activate any of the plans is to call customer care or visit a Vodafone store. Ask them about the VMC/iPhone data plans. Pick one that suits you and ask them to activate it.

Where are you located?
Which VMC plan did you activate?
Is your iPhone 4 officially unlocked or locked to a carrier?
What is the method you have tried? Be descriptive.
What is the APN used for the setup?
