EDit: shucks.. @imranais - u posted the same thing i did in so many fewer words)

I saw ur post only after reading ur above msg.

U just posted a message and I posted my views on that 200 Crore expenditure, so there is a big diff mate! :)

Brand is important but Voda is just making a soft entry, they should have made a hitting entry by lauching surprising plans/offers to "actually" get the attention of the people..................

they would need to do something special to take away customers from rival companies.this is something very difficult for them with no number portability allowed.

Number portability will surely set the cat among the pigeons. And all the telecom emperors will realise that they have no clothes on!

i know a couple of airtel customers who would move on to hutch/vodafone. :)airtel sms spam is driving them nuts ;)

Exactly Number Portability would be best thing that can happen to the industry, Operators will be forced to provide better service...............

while my reliance phone user friends are furious about the caller tunes which have been applied on their phones without any user intervention.hutch has been nice to me except for their flash sms messages which are driving me nuts. too bad i am considering shutting that connection down for ever. and stick with my alternate tata indicom number.

Hutch has been nice to me too........They managed to hold me on the network for 6+ years, offcourse its also because I cannot lose my number now.........

well the website now says
"Our new website will be coming up shortly. To proceed to the current website, click here "
111 is now answered by WELCOME TO VODAFONE

And did anyone notice the Crappy SAGEM handsets that hutch sold El-Chepo.
No after sales service,no replacement batteries, crappy menus.......YUCK,2 of my friend got them and they did not last a year !!
I hope this time its atleast an east asian brand

vodafone sells a lot of chinese phones in the UK market. expect the same here in india.

the phones would be branded vodafone so you would not know what crappy company made them.

ZTE - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia is one of them. one of my friends work in this company in the indian market. he was given a chance to get a free company made handset... he declined the offer!
