DOUBLE YUCK!!I wanted east asian Brands but I would prefer Sagem over any unknown Chinese phone anydayBut the Wiki link says they make some 3G handsets thats are rebranded by Telstra.Hope the Govt gets the 3G ball rolling so we can finally see some broad band action on our handsets

heh china makes the iPhone. that does not mean we would get phones which are as good or bad as the iphone :Pi had like to see HTC become a major mobile phone maker using their own brand. their smartphones are pretty decent. tytn is pretty awesome. touch is a kind of disappointment though.

I just meant that those Unbranded/Rebranded Chinese phone users have a lot of the same sob stories that the sagem users have.
Infact LG and ELchepo samsung users of Reliance and Tata who take those handsets also sometimes asy the same.
Phone manufacturer send u to Cell operator and Cell operator sends you back to Manufacturers handset Service center

Its all the same .....we are doomed :madness:

if i were vodafone.. i would't have cared to change the name... or spend 200crores on informing people about the change who wouldn't care anyway... instead i vud have used the money to introduce jaw dropping plans... then surely most would have noticed and happily shifted over and bought shiny new chips with vodafone printed on them (i m sooo smart:))

thats why you aren't vodafone! :P vodafone doesn't own the brand "hutch". So, as long as it operates under the name of "hutch", it'll have to pay some $$$ to Hutchison Whampoa ;) That amount works out to be a LOT LOT more than 200 cr!!!

jaw dropping plans? Wow...so you want Vodafone to shut shop even before it has launched?Talk some business sense dude. You want to drop your jaw, then switch to Reliance and keep humming Dhirubhai Ambani's songs!!Ek soch thi...ek sapna tha...sabka paise apna tha LOL

and if they do not do that. they would stuck with the same growth company. hutch is much smaller compared to airtel in india. and they are aiming to overtake them by 2010. 3 years to beat Airtel? they need to do something special to achieve that.

Don't believe in the number game guys. Examples: 1) It was impossible to dismantle Zee from the number 1 position, before Star Plus made history with KBC and suddenly became No. 12) No one could ever imagine challenging Microsoft's dominance until Google entry with a mere search engine idea, embedded with simple yet powerful technologyVodafone might or might not become #1, but like every business including telecom, Airtel might not last there as #1, without giving it a tough fight. For all you know, Sunil Mittal becomes bald whilst trying to fight Vodafone. Arun Sarin of Vodafone already has little hair left LOL

umm star got amitabh bachchan. and he did not come cheap. google challenged microsoft in what market?search? ms was never a major player in that.advertisement? ms never took that seriously.webmail? gmail still has a smaller number of users compared to hotmail.what is your point here? the two companies have a total different market domination scenario. as for vodafone. the site is broke. cant register my phone on the site. damn idiots. learn from Apple. give us a functional site at launch. you are not just another company. you are THE world's LARGEST mobile service provider by revenues.as for sunil mittal. i think he is the OWNER of Airtel. While Sarin is just AN employee who can be fired. for a price though. Mittal is one of the richest man in the world. Sarin is i doubt even on the forbes list.

are they putting up some good (for us) new schemes?

Give them sometime sweetheart. Everyone gets teething problems initially. Let the child get up, before learning to walk...let alone run like a man!!

Also, by the way, My Vodafone page still shows Hutch in the title bar. They are gradually building the site currently.

I am sure they will ape their worldwide strategy (with local flavour) for everything they do, but they will gain momentum eventually.

Arun Sarin is expected tomorrow in Mumbai to take care of the 2 billion dollar tax problem, slapped by the IT department.

The 1st mover advantage is always there. Just conduct a poll on any forum and users will swear by Gmail more than Hotmail.

Microsoft is already facing the heat by Google. If you have noticed changes in Microsoft's approach to everything they do, it is because of Google. Sunil Mittal may be the owner of the Airtel, but if it crumbles so will he.

As far as Sarin is concerned, well he is responsible for Vodafone's success. What have we got to do with their designations?
