what if you pair SC UPC (Blue) connector to SC APC (Green) on your FTTH modem (ONT) ? can it reduce speed ?

so my BSNL guys installed Blue connector patch cord to Green connector on ONT. i get 200-300 mbps download link but upload doesnt get beyond 48 mbps and i was wondering if this could be the reason. i told them about less speed issue and they said they will look into it and its been days and speed is still low.

that is very good power. RX below -26dB is perfectly fine. I think it maybe some other problem. Have you tried doing speedtest on Linux? I heard Windows has some issues with upload speeds.

It could be a reason. The ONT measures power levels within the device and so, your power readings will be normal, since the problem is at the interface of the two optical Media.

Backscattering due to the difference in optical interface angles can create more problems in transmission, much more than reception, which might explain your lower upload speeds.

BSNL could easily take away this speed test argument from us by hosting their own speed test server. I'm glad they don't.

@Adithya infact they earlier had their own speed test server. But they removed it telling that the ookla is purposely slowing down, to give edge to other isps. I couldn't find the logic behind it

i have tested on 5g wifi on android and its same 48 for upload, download can get as high as 500mbps then settling to 200.
they say they will change patch cord in few days whenever they are in my area. so i hope it would be solved soon if this is the case.

no its not capped bcoz in BSNL and some other providers the initial speed after idle connection is higher for 2-3 seconds and then settles to capped speed. my download goes to more than 500 and then comes to 200 but upload is very stable at 47-48. so its some hardware issue at my device or OLT.
