What room heater to buy?

coming from gurgaon, i can totally relate to it. they say gurgaon people are currently paying the highest price for electricity. i am using a heater right now. and that is causing me heartaches. can anyone tell me about the oil based heaters? are they really effective? i am currently using a blower based thingy which is not very good. how expensive are the oil based heaters? how much power do they consumer? ^ starting a new thread for this question.

Depends on the make... but oil heaters are not very effective. I have a delonghi. You might want to stick with the blower ones only...or get a new USHA-LEXUS blower its pretty good

I have realized that I need to have a heater in my work room. It is simply too cold to work otherwise. I have been using this regular fan based heater that is not very effective. It dries up the air and it becomes rather uncomfortable after a while. Oil based heaters are supposed to be better. Anyone here has any experience with them? how much do they cost? are they really effective? how much power do they consume? do they have a timer or something like that? or do we have to turn them on and off regularly?

me too have a delonghi smallish white colored fan based heater at the moment. i would check out the model you are recommending. i need something effective

The delonghi oil heater i have bought it about 2 years back for nearly 18k ...

argh. i have this model too. an old unit. so might be different in technology. it is much better than the delonghi model i use though. does not give out ultra dry air. wife uses this model. the one i have works like a hair dryer.

they dont usually have a timer ... it is just to keep the oil circulating to maintain a ambient temp...they consume about 1kw... you can leave it on..... i use mine to dry clothes

so from your experience. oil based heaters are not very nice. and the good ones are as expensive as ACs. hmm. do not think i would like to spend that much.

yes the good oil heaters are expensive but then again i bought mine 2 years ago... you would want to check out the latest prices... if you have a small room the oil heater can raise the temps to about 3~6 degree

by the way. were you saying that oil based heaters are not good. or were you trying to say that the cheap ones are not that good and your expensive one is very good?

i can try swapping my heater with wife's but she would not like it at all (she has the usha model but an old one that looks pretty much the same as the model you posted).

Google tells me that i can probably locate something below Rs. 10,000. i guess i can make this investment.

a recommendation would be good.
