What room heater to buy?

coming from gurgaon, i can totally relate to it. they say gurgaon people are currently paying the highest price for electricity. i am using a heater right now. and that is causing me heartaches. can anyone tell me about the oil based heaters? are they really effective? i am currently using a blower based thingy which is not very good. how expensive are the oil based heaters? how much power do they consumer? ^ starting a new thread for this question.

i bought one of these as mentioned in the linked thread. it was hard to see if it was working at all. it takes more than an hour or so for it to become effective in a large room. and it does not drop the temperature of the room drastically.

I have a 11 fin morphy richards, right now its working great because its not too cold yet, but when i had bought it in Jan last year when it was really cold it was useless & consuming 2500 watts

I have to buy something too. Want to get one of the oil based or something better. Hate the blower and rod type heaters

Heaters with Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) heating elements are supposed to be good

Oh, ouch. Then any kind of heater would be a problem though unless you get those ACs with heating functionality. I was thinking about these two models, but am not sure about the brand, reliability and service centers.

have seen the 2nd model u gonna have to keep all the time all the rods on to generate satisfactory heat my colleague who i was working with some time back almost froze off, her hands were super cold :tongue:
Single ROD heater avial. at electric shops with good rod is way better !

I have a 11fin & a 13 fin morphy richards oil heater , surprisingly 11 fin heats better than 13 fin , 13 fin was bought during GOSF '12 from pepperfry for 7k ( 30% off ) , 11 fin was bought locally for 7.7k in 2011 .

have heard oil based heaters are way better as it doesnt get air dry much , but also thse are not very warm type , thats the draw back

how are they wrt power consumption? i mean is it logical to keep them on for long periods of time?
I wonder if Dyson Heaters are on sale in India
Rs. 33000 rupees. Same price as the Nexus 5.

is it able to heat the entire room ? how much time approx does it take to heat your room?
After buying Morphy Richards Oven last month and it turning out to be of extreme crap quality, looks 10 years old after one week of use I am probably gonna stay away from Morphy Richards, was also made in China !
