frankly speaking since no one else is using this feature, it would be futile to use it.

things would become more complicated if and when vbulletin launches their own version of rating posts in a thread. it is coming eventually. xenforo has made liking a post cool.
 
U call it ego thing or whatever.....

On other sites they call it Reps & such different names.

All it does is helps gauge the credibility of posts of the person.......Thats what i had observed, even before this functionality was started here. :)
Yeah, even on TPB peoples download torrents from Trusted/VIP members of that forum. So i like "Like"ing.
 
Regarding rating of threads, someone has to start......

And if a better tool for that is coming, then may be its worth waiting.

Yes, & i saw it on Santa-Banta, and Dotsis.......the latter was non-existent, when i last checked a few months back.
 
Me too!! And where can we see the overall rating??Is it that we have to press that button only, once again?
 
To be really honest, the like feature is pretty much fine.Rating a thread is useless, you gonna rate a thread 5 someone else will rate it 1, overall rating average=3.On the other hand likes received in a thread gives a broader idea of how useful,entertaining,informative etc a thread is.And we are better off with this "like" thing on each post, instead of that rep system, or be ready to see rep****ed threads.
 
Yaar, i didnt get the last line?? I mean reps & likes are similar things only right??
 
Nah! There is a big difference, in case of reps,people create fake profiles and +ve reps their posts , users can -ve rep other member, and rep war starts that's certainly not the case with like feature, atleast the -ve rep part. I know it's confusing, but it goes like that
 
torrent torrent and torrent .. there are many good stuff like nuggets are available which i find pretty useful ...about rating .. need to highlight the same like total like received and the same need to appear next to each topic in the topic list

Oh, i had seen, but didnt knew about -ve reps!! And fake profiles giving +ve reps is a cheap thing really!!
