Yeah , also colleges and educational institutions have made Whatsapp like all dump board. I have seen announcements ,notes, even video classes(10 minutes) being shared on Whatsapp. They have not used or will try to get organised a bit and use something like Slack or Google Classroom.
I have seen students telling the staff to use Google drive to post stuff and Calendar to schedule online classes , but the teachers never understand.

My cousin`s computer science teacher thought broadband is for "big people" until she got one recently
The transition of offline to online was only quite overwhelming for Indian teachers
No offense if any teachers are here. Teaching is indeed a very challenging profession

@Tejas01 I can understand your plight. I am in the same situation. People calling for advice expecting me to decide whether they should use WhatsApp or FB.🤦 Yesterday I spent over 2 hrs on the phone to a guy in my colony to backup his phone as his kids were him a new one. Being a novice he can just hold the mouse. Hence it was difficult telling to follow the steps. Right in beginning I told him I DONT USE Google for backing up phone data. After the job was done we decided he would call me after he gets the new phone. He never did. Today morning I find him on WhatsApp, when I asked him how come he tells me 'All data came back by itself '. 🤦😏 Most probably his kids backed up the data on Google & restored it for him. (They are the Google/FB/Whatsapp mi baap generation) He is not even capable of setting up a new phone.

@Adithya Thanks. 😁 I did that many years ago & check again once in a way. My gripe is they 'take permission ' of a user but the people in the contacts were not asked nor would they even know of whats happening. Ofcourse an apologist will say 'but your data leaks from elsewhere too'. This crappy line is used a lot now a days. And if I am not mistaken this line will get used a lot in the future.

tbh. the better reason to get people away from whatsapp is the data storage problems. tell your aunts and uncles that they would no longer have to worry about deleting images and videos to free space on their phones. make your life easy. recently had to clean up mom's phone and it got so tiring that i ended up deleting the whole whatsapp folder and now well... she is not pleased with the fix for the storage problem on her phone.

the whole angle around privacy is pointless in a market like india where people would happily pose with their aadhaar card in voting lines for news people. i am currently being forced to give away my aadhaar number on plain paper that would end up getting dumped in some public garbage bin for the family id bullshit haryana government is forcing on us.

focus on convenience over privacy to reduce some stress situations in your life. this is why i tend to recommend telegram over signal. whatsapp to signal migration would never sustain. telegram on the other hand has already become popular amongst hate groups because of the group limitations on whatsapp and the forwarding restrictions that were applied by the company.

Even this is not going to help, people are quite indifferent to any thing you say. Its an addiction & force of habit they dont want to change.
Also for many their ego also comes in the way as they 'dont want to listen to these kids syndrome'.😏😏

I prefer talking to people on WhatsApp because chats don't get deleted very easily. I actually use it for keeping a trace and tack.

Had it been Telegram, two taps and the entire chat history is gone.
