But i think, a few days back, there were reports that the "Digitalisation" of Cable TV has been approved & has started.

yup the cable guy came over last month and told us abt that and already some of the channels have changed. mom said star plus and some other hindi channel r showing the hd logo now. till they change the stupid rules of multiple stb for multiple tv's i doubt my dad's gonna change to dth. Besides the picture qlty is really good, and in the living room 38" one guests usually mistake it for dth. the cablewallah is really good in maintaining the lines.

I also agree, if ur Cable guy is good - responsiveness & in his inter-personal talks, as well as Support from the Central Location that he can provide us, then Cable can be the best. But the condition i put, is very big. The cable guys are taking their advantage for granted. they feel that no one can compete them. Hence the arrogance, sub-standard service & the result - most of us kick them out of our homes.....Coz the trend today is, WE CAN PAY A FEW BUCKS EXTRA, BUT U GIVE US SERVICE - U CREATE UTILITY FOR US.

guys after scrutiny what i have gathered is this.......... all most channel based annual packsairtel rs 4450 for 12months including set top box and all stuff plus rs 250 credit in account redeemable for any service( effectively comes rs 4200). plus universal remote, plus power resume stb (dont know what that means but good for me here light goes more than it comes)Tata Sky stb rs 999 plus 1 month subscription ( 1 month subscription only if u buy via icici credit card) annual pack rs 4180 plus (grand sport) no universal remote , dont know about power resume function, total comes rs 5180 for 1 year.dish tv rs 890 for stb and annual pack discounted rate is 3550 , has most number of channel available on any dth service but no universal remote (but what i watch is avaialable on all dth so no issue bout number of channels) total comes 4450 for 1 year. choice is becoming quite obvious as airtel..............what u say guys?????

If universal remote is your decider, you may want to check if that particular one supports all your devices.I have many such remotes including a programmable Logitech Universal Remote and find most of them wanting. Also these basic universal remotes are freely available in your local electronics markets for a couple of 100 Rs...

Btw, didnt anyone mention D2h???Its 1,590 inclusive of Installation & 4 months of Sports Gold Pack......And then u can book Sports Gold Pack for another period of 1 year for Rs. 3200.....So in effect, u get 16 months of TV viewing for Rs. 4790.....

well i just bought annual mega pack of airtel for 3950 including stb, dish ,free installation and 250 rs credit in account , at rs 320 per month its 12 month cost is 3840 alone , so i got stb virtually free.plus all channels i watch ( discovery science and turbo never seen before and not includede but in rs 34 will be added)............only neo sports , neo cricket , wb, and zee cafe are not there in this apart from ultra pack , but i can always add neo cricket for 25-30 rs whenever india plays only. i think it was the best deal........

U people are making me cough out my problems again......

Rs 300pm, Half channels not visible in STB, and in normal cable line, only few were visible - which had an amazing "Rain effect" in them.......no extra things like - Music channels, movie channels, and no customer support!!

am having hathway STB .. and the clarity is good and most of the channel are available there .. they charge 250 PM ..

about customer support .. they have monopoly over here so one operator can't enter into others region .. so we can't choose other operator...
