Why I switched from Airtel Xstream Fiber to Tata Play Fiber?

Yeah that is what happens when you get the connection from local sales guy, they send the technician immediately after payment. I had similar experience when I got the connection in Jan.

I am tired of these frequent disconnections since last 3 weeks and it's frustrating tbh. TPF is unable to resolve the issue even after raising the ticket 3 times.
I raise a ticket, their so called "service engineer" calls me and asks me to do the same basic shit, restart your router and all, visits my apartment, checks optical power, says everything seems to be fine. Asks for OTP to close the ticket, leaves.
I even dropped an email to TPF explaining the issue but the complain is being assigned to the same guy every time.
I had no idea that TPF service quality would drop down so quickly, it's just been 7 months since I got the connection.
I have decided to not waste my time and energy with them anymore and switch to some other ISP. Gave them enough chance to get my issue fixed.

Raised a disconnection request today and got a call from their retention team. They acknowledged the problem and promised to get it fixed. Immediately got a call from some senior guy(TL ig) and he sent a technician who replaced the ONT and wiring from the FAT box.
I am happy to report that I have not faced any disconnection since then but it's too early to say if the problem is really resolved.

Only if they would have resolved this issue earlier, it would saved a lot of time for me. I was very reluctant to switch ISP again as I have Airtel, Jio and ACT as other options. Had a very poor experience with Airtel hence moved to TPF so decided not to move back with them again. ACT in Pune is fairly new and I have read not so good reviews about it on the forum, for Pune. I simply can't trust Jio because of the shady business tactics they use and many people face outages in our apartment which remains unresolved for days.

Even though TPF technician was unable to resolve the issue earlier, I am happy that none of my complains went unattended, I immediately received a call from them after raising ticket, which is appreciated.
I will observe my connection logs for a week and see if I face any disconnection or interruption ( apart from the planned outage in case).
Will keep this thread updated from time to time.

Also I am planning to upgrade my Archer AX10 now although there is no major problem with it but I feel it might be a bottleneck in the near future as I am planning to upgrade my connection speed to 1Gbps. I was thinking of going with Archer AX72 Pro or AX73. If anyone has a better suggestion/recommendation, please let me know.

Although TPF is able to address my concerns pretty quickly, there quality of resolution seems to be no better than any other ISP. Even after changing the whole wiring and router, I am still facing random disconnections atleast 4-5 times a day. It may seem like a small inconvenience but it's a big deal for me since I work from home and my parents are heavy internet users.
The problem is deep rooted in their systems but they are unable to identify and give me a proper resolution. I am sure this problem is specific to my connection only as other residents in my apartment are not facing any such issue.

I checked logs on my TP-Link router and what I could deduce from it is that it is getting disconnected from something called as BNG or BRAS. I am really not sure what is that. The disconnections don't last long, a maximum of 2-5 minutes, unless it's a planned outage.

TPF is having a lot of planned outage for maintenance work these days I don't know why. Every other day I get a message regarding that.
@vishalrao @Chip do you guys face any issue with TPF in the recent days due to the rain? I hardly think that my issue has anything to do with the heavy rainfall but I have started facing issues since the onset of monsoon in month of June. Anyone else from pune facing this issue, please let me know.

@Lolita_Magnum what do you think could be the issue here? I can share you the router logs as well.

Gone are the days of stable and reliable internet connection, I guess it's too much to ask for these days :(

I don't want to opt for Airtel again. I was frustrated with their customer service and don't want to deal with their braindead staff.

@87056 I face no issues at all during the rains with 3 providers. Reasons for disconnections vary and the techs need to diagnose it at your place as it is very specific to you and/or your area. Have you asked others with TPF connections if they have the same issue? BRAS = Broadband Remote Access Server and BNG = Broadband Network Gateway

It is best you raise a ticket with TPF they are pretty prompt in responding.
