hi all, looks like these plans might not sustain. Its just the initial hype to sign on more users.
Zylog is not an ISP really and they sublease the bandwidth from Tier-1 ISPs. they are a small scale IT services company with around 400 staff in some remote corner of chennai.
Naturally they cannot scale and maintain same prices over time by reselling a commodity cheaper than the source. Besides look at the other costs a smaller company has to incur to sustain and fight it out with the biggies.
also the spectrum they operate is an un-licensed free one. so really no guarantees over many things.
to me it looks like a totally unrelated line of
business with no prior experience.
I called the Zylog fellows umpteen times. Finally someone answered, took down my phone and address, told me that they will send someone the very next day at 10:30AM. I waited and waited. Nobody showed up for a whole week. I called up again and complained. Someone showed up next day and said that they have no tower in my area, that if I allowed them to establish a tower on the rooftop of my house, I get free connectivity!
Shalini's statement that "like a totally unrelated line of business with no prior experience" is what these guys are.
