wat would u guys suggest abt Asus RT N13U

It's a decent WiFi router the advance features of the router and hence the premium you are paying is due to the fact that you can attach a USB hard-drive to share storage and also use to the same and download torrents while you PC is switched off can also do ftp with the same which can be a great thing or you can also a USB printer and share the same with all the machines connected to the same.

In the technical specs dept this is a single band 2.4 Ghz 'N; based router, but this one has just 100 Mbps ethernet port apart from the WiFi if you do not need to transfer huge files (I mean very large files frequently more than 1 GB) between your wired machines connected via ethernet to your router or do not have a gigabit ethernet port this router should be good enough.

Though I have not used this router personally have heard good thing about the same, if do not need extended range if your house / flat is around 1500 sq/feet it should do the job considering the price to features offered it is a very good router.

My suggestion is you are going to use a Belkin USB wireless dongle go with the basic Belkin N router not that D-Link one, there is a basic N 150 WiFi router by Belkin for around Rs 1,500 - 1,600, I personally have a Belkin N+ and its pretty okay but not awesome.

Do mind I am crazy geek any play around with a lot of hardware so I am really picky about the devices I use, I D-Link DIR-655 : Xtreme N Wireless has very good throughout but again expensive another good router IMHO is Netgear N600 (WNDR3700) Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router it is one of the best WiFi router that you can get but again it is very expensive if you just planning to use it for just 1-3 WiFi devices and do not plan to do hi-def Wifi streaming the belkin 150 N should be good enough.

The Linksys Wifi routers used to be good but again these day there budget products are just crap.

Well now the total cost comes upto Rs.3600. I'm ready to spend upto Rs.5000. The problem is that after buying those products if i face some issues with bad signal then everything goes in vain. As you all know we can't exchange goods that easily.

This product caught my attention. Downloading torrents with PC off...awesome

Hey @Raj what are the features / requirements that you are looking from your WiFi router, I need to know no of PC's Laptops that r going to be connected weather the PC already have a WiFi Card built in I am assuming Laptops already support the same, also any feature that you would like. The Asus RT N13U is a good router coz with your budget you can get away with that and also I feel that is a good idea to buy a decent router than figuring out after a year or so that the router you are using does not have all the features that you require, also a good quality router should last you a long time, I also have a Linksys WRT54G router it's a great router and I think so its 5-6 years old and works without issues, I am tempted to buy a new router just coz the new routers available in the market offer so much features but that linksys just works like crazy.

2 Desktop PC in 2 different floors(1st & 2nd). No wifi adapters on both PC. Optional - If my router supports downloading with PC off then it would be fine, so that i can save some power & my hardware during all night. Now tell me whether the primary PC should be kept on to use(internet) the secondary PC. And details about Reliance logging system in those PC's.

Raj for the features you require that Asus model in the previous post should be good enough.

What you could do is that keep one PC connected via the routers ethernet option and the other PC connect it via the WiFi using the USB adapter (That way you can save by just using one USB adapter for WiFi).

Once you have logged on to the Reliance portal (I prefer you do that via the wired / ethernet PC) you can safely shut that off or put it on standby mode to save power when not needed and you can use the internet on the other PC or Laptops (you would again need to logon after 24 hours as the session would expired just again logon from the wired PC).

As I stated earlier I did not have access to this particular ASUS model of the router but you should be able to attach a USB portable hard-drive to the router via the USB port provided on the router and using the admin interface of the router configure it to download P2P torrents directly on the USB hard-disk and it should work even when you PC is shutdown.
