I agree with you that https shud be default.But you are not getting the point.If your friend is travelling on bad road (which he does not know) and u know a safer road. It wud be selfish to tell him just that "you will be going via bad road, BE CAREFUL".Here its call hiding a fact.If you really have good intent. Want his safety, u also add one more line "go via this other road its safer"Same way article writer CLEARLY DID NOT WANT TO HELP readers. Just wanted to bash yahoo.Hope you get the point.

they asking yahoo to turn on https. you look at it as bashing, i look at it like a legitimate request. i linked to a petition on accessnow.org not some news article criticizing yahoo. it is a freaking PETITION. not a news article mocking yahoo.
internet is not like road travel that people know about things like wearing seat belts. people are not going to automatically land on articles telling them how to enable https on their yahoo account. it is yahoo's responsibility to keep https as the default setting because majority of their users are not like you or me who knows about such things.
they have the technology in place. THEY HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY IN PLACE. THEY HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY IN PLACE.
