Unsure if it has been mentioned yet - many others and myself are once again facing high ping to Europe and NA. The reason supposedly is due to the MENA sea cable being down and Airtel now routing its traffic through the US for European destinations. This is after the 2021/2022 Airtel routing issues which were causing similar issues due to the SEA-ME-WE-4 sea cable being down. I can't understand why Airtel doesn't give a fuck when this issue arises and switch to an alternate similar cable.

Personal anecdote: routing to Europe/NA is always hit or miss over the course of a few months, there's either a cable fault, depeering or whatever. Interestingly, my vps in Singapore does not seem to affected as much. Is it because data center upstreams manage routing better? Or is it because they have multiple upstreams? I am hoping that IEX improves things once it is online.

On paper and in media Airtel seems to have signed many aggrements and invested in many cables connecting India and Europe. Many of those cables are operational from a long time.
Are the deals only on paper for marketing and increasing shareholder value? Cuz shit seems really fked up, a single cable down forces you to route traffic through Pacific?

If someone has knowledge about cable ownership and backups, kindly enlighten us.

Yes bsnl seems to be also affected as its using airtel , its been 250+ ping since 2 months for ME and EU. I am mainly facing these issues with AWS servers, but azure seems to be having normal latency. I also connected with the bsnl noc team and they dragged it for like 3 weeks and finally concluded some return path issue (super vague) and pushed me to take static ip. 1 in 1000 people reports these and these isp dont give a sht to these core issues.

What I meant was, regarding connectivity from my VPS to Europe, it stays stable around 160-170ms despite all the Red Sea cable cuts.

For jio fiber — routing to eu is fine in morning at 150-160 ms and gets high latency to 250 ms in evening and night.

With excitel its always >250 ms from last few months.
