After reading the reviews here, I finally decided to take the plunge and get an ACT connection. Since the area I moved to only has Tikona, BSNL and ACT, my choice was between bad customer service (presumably) and relatively low speed of BSNL and bad customer service (presumably) and high speed of ACT. I decided to go with the faster option.
I called the ACT customer care on Thursday evening. After being on line for about 5-10 mins, I got through. The rep took my address down and told me that an executive will contact me regarding the same. I got a call in about 20 mins from an ACT executive and he told me that he'd come the next day to collect the documents. He arrived promptly the next day and collected the documents and the advance rental/installation charges. Since a person in my apartment already had a connection he assured me that I'd have the connection ready latest by Monday. I asked him if Sunday was a working day and he said yes. To be honest, I didn't really believe him.
Anyways, an engineer came by on Sunday evening to set up the connection (he looked like someone who knew what he was doing). He configured the network and also my wifi
router. Then he called up ACT to get the username and password and surprise surprise, even he was put on a looping hold. After about half an hour he asked me call him after 40 mins and he left. I called him after an hour and the situation was the same. After about 30 mins later I got a call from an ACT technical rep and after confirming my details sent me the username and password by mail/SMS. So far so good. My expectations are minimal. Since I've a
TATA Docomo dongle for emergencies, as long as I can download for 20 days or so in a month without any major hiccups, I'll be satisfied. Here are some numbers:

*Note: The ping was a little higher yesterday, and speed was about 8.9 Mbps.
Hi, thanks for the positive feedback and am finding the upload speed is lower!!! can you pl send me an email (
[email protected]) with account no so that i can get one of our engineer visit and ensure the upload speed is at par with download (10Mbps).
