Done migrating 7 Airtel prepaid numbers to BSNL (applied for, actually). All for 3G.Just for 3G.No other reason but for 3G.Airtel can test for all they want. But keeping their customers in suspense while all they talk about 3G is how good it will be, is actually advertising 3G for BSNL!

^^I hope you won't regret for that!!I don't think BSNL can ever match the quality that Airtel or Vodafone can provide. I stay in heart of Bangalore city and i get 0-2 bars on BSNL 3G in my house!

in three months he would be able to use MNP again and would probably have more options. :)

I agree 3g signals are not the best when compared to normal GSM for BSNL but most parts of Bangalore has pretty good 3g signals and we get average speeds for approx 1-1.5 Mbps - Pretty good for normal mobile usage such as emails, google maps & other google services, internet browsing, music downloads, watching streaming videos etc. although Youtube streaming sometimes has glitches, could be some issues on my HTC Desire phone's software or even BSNL network related.

On my Android phone i can use free software such as Music Downloader Pro to download a 5-7mb mp3 file in less than a minute + all this even if there is one or two signal bars, inside my office i can only get 2 signal bars naturally because it's a huge 7 floored building and i work in 2nd floor but when we go to 5/6th floor for work & in 7th floor cafeteria it works with full signal strength - i guess this kind of operation is normal for most providers. But when i connect the phone to my computer for continuous downloads i get speeds of approx 150 - 250 kBps (fluctuates greatly depending on the location and time of day). But overall for my average mobile usage BSNL 3g works just fine the best part is the cost on BSNL prepaid is also reasonable. i normally recharge for Rs. 350/ month(1gb plan) & ended up using a little over 500mb for the last 2 months. I bought this addon connection only for mobile internet & std calls purpose otherwise i'm stuck with a Vodafone postpaid connection for my primary number that i can't afford to change, so waiting for MNP + 3g to be launched fully and based on reviews etc i shall port to another provider or stay with Vodafone if they manage to launch 3g on time in Bangalore with competitive plans.

Quality of Airtel?
You must be Joking. That 'Mr. Quality' was kicked in its bal$ by Airtel's own Son in Law, 'Mr. fair usage policy' and Mr. Quality was last seen five years ago, with his tail between his legs running off to Africa to buy a telephone network there.

You are getting 0-2 bars on BSNL 3G. I am getting ZERO bars on AIRTEL 3G all over India, even inside Mittal's toilet. My Zero simply beats your 0-2. :)) he he.

Look, the whole issue today IS NOT WHICH SERVICE PROVIDER is better. It is Which Service Provider's signals can you access from your primary place of internet usage.
As far as Airtel or Vodafone is concerned, it simply DOES NOT MATTER if they have the most fantastic logo or whatever you call service. They have NO 3G.

Period. 3G is the SERVICE.
No 3G = No Service.
With my investment on a iPhone, a 3G cum Wireless router and my plans for a 3G enabled Tablet, I simply need 3G.

So till Airtel can open its golden lips and tell us when its launching 3G instead of just sprouting nonsense about 'what is 3G', 'Find out whether your handset supports 3G' on its website, Its service is just Zero, Muttai, Chicken egg, صف, Nul, 零, Zilch, None, Zip, Nil, nix, nada, null, aught, cypher, goose egg, naught and whatever else we can call zero by!

Oh yea, and the logo of Airtel just says that graphically, instead of so many languages i had to waste to mean the same thing.

^^Okay..Both Vodafone and Airtel will have 3G started. What will be your post then?!

Its a FACT that Airtel and Vodafone have better quality than BSNL. Period.

LOL get your facts right, its sucks big time !

I can't believe that people are saying BSNL Mobile is better than Airtel! That too in this forum! OMG!

Today i went to airtel store at my place and they confirmed that 3g will start in the last week of jan or on the 1st week of feb.

Let me clarify:A good service is NOT all about having a great infrastructure or latest equiptment. It is about SATISFYING your customer's genuine expectations IN TIME.I have been a loyal airtel customer for over 8-9 years now (right from the time they launched Touchtel landline in my city in 2002). I have seen them grow and I have contributed to their grown in not-a-insignificant way.My broadband Internet bills during 2003-2005 used to be over 8000 Rs per month, excluding telephone call charges. They were the first to increase the speeds up to 1, 2, 4 and 8 Mbps. WIth the bandwidth on demand feature, they were the peak of innovation.and then $hit happened. They lost the plot. The 1 million customer mark went up to their heads and screwed the axons up. Grey matter turned white. When they won the 3G spectrum, they could have ANNOUNCED THEIR PRICING /TARIFF PLANS FOR 3G. It might have made sense to their feeble minds to wait till the launch to announce the tariff, but then, airtel was supposed to cater to the IMPATIENT. To those who need speed and they needed it yesterday. Now, most AIRTEL customers are left in a limbo. When 3G will launch and whether the tariff would be prohibitive for home unlimited usage are big questions. Even if BSNL has the most clueless dorky engineers who can't put out a decent tariff card that doesn't make customers want to pull their eyes out of their sockets, they got 3G.Their 3G is no doubt flaky. No doubt their uptime record is like the worst on this planet, except probably for Somalia perhaps... yet. They. Got. 3G.AND. The. CHEAPEST. price.Rs. 4200 for 6 Months (700Rs/Month), Unlimited. NO fair usage policy. All India Roaming... now Whats 700 Rs / Month? Nothing! I am sure many of you pay that much for your landline voice calls. When Airtel will launch its service. It will try to squeeze milk out of your white teeth, thinking its white coz of milk inside. Thats Airtel for you. You will be paying with and through your teeth literally. They will charge in triple digits composed of 9's. Thats their favourite number: 9 & multiples of 9. And then, will come the other concubine: 500 Mb Bandwidth. or some equally damn number that will let you barely let you watch a Movie Trailer. That service maybe great for you. But for me, I need raw speed now and i can't wait for another day in uncertanity. After all, even if Airtel does pull its head from between its legs and proposed a decent reasonable tariff, I will be switching over to it in 3 months. So its BSNL for now. Time to kiss the frog.
