i went to J C road CC of BSNL. a very polite gentleman welcomed me and asked what i can i do. well, i shown him MNP unique code recieved and i asked why i should switch to BSNL. he was smart and replied in very short and precise manner---Sir, many people are porting from Airtel to BSNL for simple reason of low 3G tariff and good connectivity even in remote areas, also he told that ---sir, i would not lie, practically BSNL voice tariff is even more expensive, but you will have good connectivity everywhere also with 3G in hills and remote areas. he also mentioned contracts have been given to
Huawei for further increasing the 3G bandwidth for higher speeds like 21.1 mbps.
well, i was impressed and immediatly filled MNP form with postpaid form. he attached MNP form, postpaid form and last copy of bill paid reciept and passport size photo . i handed over 500 security deposit for STD facility with roaming.
last he gave printed payment reciept.
also explained that once customer report will be recieved from Airtel, i will recieve Msg from BSNL to switch as per mentioned procedure.

one more thing cc representative told that Govt is infusing so much funds to keep the the service alive and if people like you will join the network then it might become No.1 in india in terms of service and network reach.
still airtel cannot match their coverage becuase of simple reason, BSNL have installed towers on top of remotest telephone exchange where airtel cannot even think due to geographical limitation! examples he gave like sand deserts in rajasthan. or leh and ladhak in north east and hill station of darjeeling .
well, that impressive!:bowtoyou:
HahA! This is how BSNL makes everyone fall into their honeytrap. You should ask yourself, how often it is that you go to areas where their network extends, I don't know about you but I'm never taking a mobile along *if* I climb up to Leh or if I'm *magically ported* into Rajasthan deserts.
You'll realise what I'm saying once you have to deal with their customer care. I activated 3G on my 7 year old BSNL No. (after upgarding SIM etc.) and the max speeds I got were lower than that of Edge! That too when I was standing right inside the exchange building!! When I went to their local officer lady in charge, I was told this is a "technical problem" and they couldn't deal with it. In the end they tried to convince me that my handset was problematic.
The same day I went to Aircel showroom nearby for a 3G demo, the lady offered to take out 3G sim from their ON-Display
Samsung Tab and give me a live demo of 3G speeds. Speeds were in excess of 3 Mbps and I was impressed>>MNP>> Now I'm on Aircel with 3G activated and downloading in excess of 200 KBps @ home while BSNL 3G signals didn't even reach here when I was with them.
The irony of the whole thing is that Aircel and BSNL have a tower sharing agreement.
