^ Agree dude. I have been having exactly the same experience. Airtel has gone downhill with customer experience. Things are at such a sad state that the Nodal officer hasn't responded to my mail for the last 28 days and his phone number is unreachable always.

+1 here, this double speed offer exposed what CC of airtel actually is

I was given a Final date of 4th March for this to get activated on my line, and suprisingly i now have 1 Mbps throughout the day since yday night. A little aggressiveness does make Airtel sit up and take notice :P

I got a response from CC regarding 1099 Plan- which they say is the Swift 1099 plan.. and 2 plan of Turbo 1099 from Airtel Website- all 3 have different choices of speed and options. How do i post the images of these plans ?

Airtel does not quite activate the double speed on demand, as you have noticed.
There seems to a fair bit of back-end checking and so on they do, so in my case I had to badger them 3 times and it took 3 weeks, but I finally did get the double speed. Problem is, it is double speed only one way (downstream). This may not matter to some, but I had to mention it.
Bangalore seems to be exploding with a lot of people getting this offer activated over the last 2 months, from a lot of localities. Airtel Broadband has also been expanding its area of coverage, so friends who were stuck with BSNL until now are now gleefully jumping onto the (supposedly) better bandwagon.

Want a fairly complete summary of the 100 Rupees top-up plan from Airtel which doubles your Internet connection speed? A good option might be to check out what PC World India has to say about it including observations of the result, over at - Airtel's Double-speed Unlimited DSL plans for home, with details including FUP
Or you can take the longer route of reading all 262 posts of this thread so far, and find out every minute detail. :-)

What do u mean by that? U say only the download speed doubles & not the upload? If so i'm a bit worried as i upload files often.

Airtel - for that matter - no ISP in India makes any claims or guarantees the upload speeds. All they mention is the download speed. So if you opt for this, your download speed will definitely be doubled, but your upload may or may not be. You also need to remember that the lines used by Airtel do not support uploads in excess of 1 Mbps.
