Admin.. just mail out this forum thread in the media. This Thing requires media attention . Airtel needs to learn , that it is far behind international standards, charges high and has no right to degrade the service and charge a premium price for unlimited connection.

people who are defending airtel here would love it when the government starts rationing water and probably air supplies.

In case you are referring to me....

Why should I defend Airtel?

My only motive was to inform wht I clarified. And it is, it won't affect the existing unlimited plan users....

This was the only reason I wrote the below mentioned statement in my last post -

BTW - If I am missing some point, kindly elaborate the issue

Only masterofbrodband is doing so and obviously is one of airtel's PR guys

he'll have a rough time with the bandwidth huggers. they'll suck out all the brain bandwidth he has. :frown:

having caps on plans like 256k,384k,512k is a joke and morally wrong. In other countries the isps which have capped the bandwidth are 1mbps+.WE dont even know that these caps are for both upload and download.admin you should contact media before other isps jump on this bandwagon.

You think when airtel changes plan setting it does for individuals ? or for particular plans?

Airtel can get away changing plans for specific users.?

I don't know from where u cofirmed but its very evident that they have added this policy as indicated on their wesite and will stay for all users.

It takes time for customer care to be updated and not everyone want to give a clear picture anyway specially when nothing is going in written.so if ur so sure its better to get it in written.

its upload + download....both counted together.

^ i confirmed and they said it' only downloads. if it' dl+ul....much more worse for users. and way more worse for airtel. somebody having limited plan in airtel can confirm whether they are metered only for download or download+upload?

look at these posts from this thread only.

wtf! I just went and checked my data usage and there are some days where i have(allegedly) downloaded 5-6 gb in a day! I mean wtf! Let me calculate this:
I have line speed of 384 kbps
so every hour i can download appr. 150 mb
every day that is 150*24 = 3600 mb(3.6 gb)

so if my maximum download possible is 3.6 gb, how the heck can i download more than that! I am surely not getting double speeds, forget double i hardly get 90 percent of my line speed. Cc and nodal officers, you are gonna get a earful from me....

well, well...after getting a earful from me about their crap policy and not caring about a 6 year old customer, the csr tells me the usage is actually calculated with download+upload, so the 6 gb they allegedly show is my download and upload combined. Way to go Airtel! Vodafone has finally got some competition when it comes to crappy customer service. Wow i just cant wait to get out of airtel :@

i called cc again...when i asked for tariff's and limitation for 512kbps, the guy told that he is from technical department and he will transfer my call...the next executive have no idea what this "fair usage policy" is...:hysterical:
He told me as you are in unlimited plan there should not be any limit...he was confused about these things..later on he told me to wait as he is going to check about these things and call got disconnected.

I called again...this time the lady told me that as per my 384kbps plan my download limit will be 25gb after that speed will be reduced to 256kbps. For 512kbps she told 40gb limit after which speeds will be reduced to 256kbps. She told there is no unlimited plan like before.

This 25gb or 40gb is including download+upload both.

Man, don't know, either the Customer Care is fooling around or they are not aware....

I made a call just now and asked about FUP & the guy was like, as if he was hearing that word for the first time in his life
And again stated - Yes we have stopped Home 649 PLAN, but as you are an existing customer for this Plan you would continue getting 256kbps speed with unlimited download & upload....

Don't know whts happening???? :@
