Thanks so much for the input, Manoj and Igloo. :-)

I've sent them an email. Fingers crossed.. Will report back.

It looks like this plan provides a static IP.

Other than this plan, Chennai now has the following plans (speed as per feasibility) :

50GB - Rs. 999
75GB - Rs. 1099
100GB - Rs. 1299
125GB - Rs. 1499
200GB - Rs. 1999

I wonder why there are no 150GB and 175GB plans say for Rs. 1699 and Rs. 1899! :p

May I know the speed of this plan? I am interested in this plan.

Speed doesn't matter anymore. You will be given the maximum feasible in your place.

I am in Chennai. My BSNL is giving me 2mbps. If I get the same speed, I don't want to change. If I get better speed, I want to change.

Can someone give me the phone number of Airtel Broadband New Connection? I want to enquire if this 1000 rupees(50GB with a decent speed) is available in my area.

I think you'll get a minimum of 4mbps these days. Depending on feasibility, you might even get 8 or 16 mbps. My connection is 16mbps. The rates are same for the different speeds. Only data costs.

You can call 121 from an Airtel phone or 44444121 from a non-airtel phone to speak to customer care.

Thanks. I asked about them. This is what he said was available in my area(Vadapalani):
1240 Rupees per month(with taxes) - 75GB - 8mbps
1000 Rupees Installation Charges
Free Wi Fi Modem

It sounds reasonable but the speed(8mbps) it seems less compared to what ACT is offering(40mbps). I was thinking about ACT Fibrenet(40mbps) but I heard the customer care is not good. I hope Airtel is somewhat better.

I forgot to ask them if I would get free calls on telephone or whether it is purely broadband. Does anyone have any idea about it?

ACT : Fibre Optics
airtel : (mostly) DSL
Completely different technologies, so it's not fair to compare speeds.

Airtel has much better support and is pretty reliable (from my past experience).

I live in a duplex house. Will Airtel give me multiple lines for one phone number? I want to use the same number - Ground Floor(Phone) and First Floor(Broadband).
