:thumb:Hell Yeah!

Thanks for taking the initiative. Hope there will be some positive reaction from Airtel.

Data based plans are a nice proposal but I doubt heavily that operators like Airtel & Tata will let people enjoy so easily. What if they come up with plans like Rs.100/GB or Rs. 200/GB and so on. Do you think they will sell bandwidth @ 10rs./GB?I don't think so !

well, we have to give them a good reason to do so. the more people supporting such a plan, the more logical it would sound to their marketing team. of course, we are a very small minority here on the forum. it is just a proposal for them to consider. something that suits a lot of us people who are suffering from their Fair Usage Policy policies.the basic idea is... these plans would be prepaid in nature. and both parties would know how much it would cost them to use the internet. :| how simple could it be?they already have similar plans on mobile where we pay per GB of data transfer (98 rupees for 2GB) for example.

If they had any such kind heart towards their customers they would have done better till now. They are in the business to make profit and profit can be made/increased by getting more revenue from the same resources. Here FUP helps them.I have read in one of the replies of Airtel Presence that most of the user are not affected by these limits of 25, 50 Gb on various plans. Which means there is still space for further decreasing the FUP Qouta as only some of the users will be affeceted by doing this too. Don' t be surprised if they further decrease their FUP limits as they have increased their GPRS charges.

well the problem is that the broadband scenario in india is focused towards speed based plans. price rise with increase in speed. which is totally opposite of what the case is with the broadband service providers. they pay per GB. mgcarley has already stated it numerous times.

since the customer is used to paying for speed and not bandwidth... most plans available to us are focused on that. we need a change in perception about that from airtel. so that we get what we want while they do not make losses from the so called power users.

Pay per GB is a very nice concept which can be equally profitable to both ISPs & customers but the thing is the heavy downloaders like us are just so fed up of crappy FUPs of airtel that any thing with the name of airtel sounds suspicious and tricky.

Many of us used to be the old customers of airtel who have made recomendation to many for opting Airtel but their current plans are like nightmares. Seeing their recent changes in past one years, Airtel which used to be customer centric company giving emphasize on customer feedbacks, has just turned into a company solely working for profit motive.

When earlier people used to download 100-200 Gb or more with 512kbps,1mbps & 2mbps unlimited plans how was that feasilble at those times, where as today we have much powerful core routers, Fiber & other things required to handle much more traffic load.

I would pesonally like to see someone launching prepaid per GB broadband plans but I am suspectible that airtel will keep it feasible/cheap that heavy downloaders using 100-150-200 Gb would be able to opt those, though nothing is Impossible !

argh. just had some more communication with airtel guys. things are not looking good. people who are seeking such plans are in very small minority and that is unlikely to force them to release something like this. definitely very disappointed.
