connection speed 256 1gb download limit Rs.500/-
no free calls.

actual speed as per their bandwidth meter 221/225kbps.
the moment i connect to net, i see the speed. there is
no change.

it is strange. chennai is the main gateway for airtel.
how come we have not heard any thing about these.

The plan you are talking about is a commercial plan from Airtel and is certainly not the cheapest. Some private ISPs do offer 512 kbps unlimited. One such ISP i know is alliance broadband in Kolkata. Check out their tariff details :
