Asianet FTTH connection: Discussions

Nope man, I am not any khufia agent. Actually I also want to take FTTH connection and Asianet said they don't have such prepaid plans. What they provide is connection through cable modem and their latest one is docsis 3.0
Anyway the speeds seems to be good. Also, you don't have to worry signal issues which happen regularly with their cable modem based connections.

FTTH is not alone available from Asianet Franchisee's. "Kerala Vision" also offers FTTH, but I've no idea about coverage. BTW, which part of Kerala are you from?

I forgot to update: Since this is a pre-paid internet, you can change the plans every month. I've 3GB left over after last month's usage. It is carry-forwarded into present month.

B/W carry forwarding is good feature.
I am living near Chottanikara. Unfortunately the available options are BSNL and Asianet. Both not good here.

Asianet has started giving FTTH in N.Paravoor, Ernakulam city and other parts also. I wonder, being in Chottanikkara, you should've someone providing railwire internet(Piravom, Thrippunithura). ask your local cable operator. they may have the option already but will not be advertising. If it's available in Muvattupuzha, obviously you people nearer to city would've better options; right?

I've learned that local cable operators like Drishya in Pala, Kottayam district also provides FTTH for long time

Hi Prakash,

I'm from Pathanamthitta and recently took the Asianet FTTH connection from our local Asianet cable tv operator. There is a plan Heavy Surfer unlimited 1010 (1MB no FUP) and there won't be any login issues (it need no username and password as other plans).

I'm planning to setup a wireless router as they (Asianet) only provided me with a Wired ONU and need to manually configure the IP in the network settings for every PC connected. Could you please shared the settings needed like gateway, subnet mask, DNS servers etc so that I can configure the wireless router correctly and also could you please suggest a good router too ;). Thanks in advance.

Even with WiFi router, login is needed(in case of most plans). configuring on router is easy. choose connection as static and give IP, Subnetmask and gateway which are given by your cabletv franchisee. use a router and configure dhcp for lease (How-to's are available everywhere). use Google DNS or DNS advantage, opendns, tata etc.

There isn't much to check. And.. don't buy cheap D-Link WiFi routers. they fails randomly. BTW, how much did they charge for ONU and ftth connection?
