Ramli, cont me in, i am also interested in getting a good antenna. The ones being sold locally are not that good. As at my friends place in Kormangala when i saw the 92% signal strength the connectivity was very good and no disconnection issues at all. Plus the QOS also went up.
So if i can bump up my current signal strength from 65 - 70's to high 90's i am sure the QOS will improve and speeds will be better with less ping times.
As my
router is already on its way, should get it by end of next week, and i am sure the signal in that location will be less.
So definitely buying an antenna is on the card, i am also doing some search on the same, and i find this one :-
3G Dual Band Dipole Antenna 9dBi
I have seen the antenna link. 1.7 to 2.1Ghz compatible. The cable has SMA connector. So to connect to the
Huawei modem, you need another reducer cable with CRC9 connector.
I have done
TV DXing in 80s. And then calculating, plotting, fabricating and constructing C band dish antenna ( 12' 18' dia ) well before the entry of satellite tv in India ( By Star TV ) and received Russian and Chinese TV channels only. So building 3G antennas is not a problem. It is an interesting thing to be experienced.
Since I have some important personal work will take another one month or more to try them. ( Yagi, Cantenna, discarded dish, biquad etc. I will inform you then. )
To get good speeds not only number of users connected to the Tower matters, the strength of the every user also matters.
Not all the users connected are getting equal speeds. Simply because we are connected, can not get good speed.
Users connected with more signal strength will get more speeds than the user with poor signal strength.
Let us try some antennas. Nothing harm in trying to increase the signal strength. It will help others with poor signal also. Wasting money depends upon the spender's decision.
