bsnl 3g Internet speed

Hi all...
I have brought new BSNl 3g sim with data card. The speed i am getting is just about 40 kbps. Somebody was telling me to change settings to 3g to get good speed but i didn't get what to change in settings. Can anybody provide me proper settings to avail max speed.

Also can any of you tell me how to connect to internet in ubuntu 10.04 using BSNL Data cad.

You need to do nothing except change the APN in your 3G datacard software to bsnlnet and access internet via *99# telephone number.

Regarding Ubuntu no idea .

Wimax is nt yet available in Pune Circle.....

Farmboy the speed of pune guy is just burst speed not a average speed

I agree with krishansharma11 that we get good 3G speed in 2G sim card when the handset is set to UMTS mode. I used to get very high speed of 100 KB/sec on my Nokia 5230. But the same thing does not happen when you use a USB Modem for 2G sim card and 3G network.

with tariff reduced i plan to move from airtel to bsnl 3G ,but i want to know what min and average speed you people are getting( i knew max speed is 3.1mbps)anything min speed above 1.5mbps and avg speed above 2mbps will be okie for me!!!
