N70 is a 3G enabled phone (384 Kbps) but not HSDPA (3.5G) enabled. You'll have to buy a HSDPA enabled phone to experience real 3.5G speed!

the speed is less for u only because of old n70 3G mobile. N70 mobile only has the option for connecting 3G and it will not connect to 3.5G. 3.5G speed starts from 3.6 mbps to 14.1mbps.. what u will have to do is purchase modems from Huawei or zte inorder to get good speed. see specification before purchasing modems .. now adays modems are available in 21.1MBPS speed . if u wants to have 7.2 mbps . then go for it. the modem price of 21.1 mbps is 3400 in ebay.. and u can also search for it in market..

recharging for 4200 for 6 months is a great idea friend...


i downloaded 20GB in :wewin:2 days.... then u will understand how fast:O the bsnl 3G is...

i m damn sure that private operators will not give 3G for low price..

so aware of it ... so finally i suggest you to upgrade your device first then recharge for 4200 friend. this nokia able to give only 60kbps.:icry:

i am three months old user of bsnl 3g,i am having terracom lw272 ver1.0 .
previously i am having 1499 u/l plan recently i have opted 4200/6 month plan.but to my surprise now a days i am getting speed of 10-100 kbps in evening time uptomidnite it alwars getting disconnected,i am totally ****ed up by these bsnl guys,my house is near the bsnl exchange hardly 1 km. now pls tell me how to improve its signal strength,so that i can use its value.

he speed will depend upon the following : -
1. No of user
2. Signal strength
3. Distance from tower
4. Type of modem used

Optimum distance should be under 3kms from the tower, beyond that you may face issues.


The table suggested by Sierra.....

-113 dBm......................... No coverage / signal
-112 dBm to -101 dBm ...... Unacceptable coverage
-100 dBm to -91 dBm ........ Weak
-90 dBm to -81 dBm .......... Moderate
-80 dbm ( and below ) ....... Good coverage

I haven't checked the signals at home but at my workplace i am having weak signals around -93dBm. I am getting very low speeds here but no disconnections. At home the signal strength is better and speeds are much high.
