They should peer with Extreme IX. It's connected with most CDNs and popular sites.

Mediafire upload is fine with close to full speed on my secondary ISP which uses TATA Transit, I think this is a BSNL issue.

@shashankb They do for YouTube, you can traceroute their video urls those r7--xxxxx.googlevideo.com, they'll resolve to bsnl IP, probably a GGC within BSNL's network.

@shashankb GDrive is fine for me, I'm going over my 60mbps😅, Google peering is fine here.

I am having issues with Mediafire, which is going through Tata.

Actually anything not peered or isn't a local cache is going through Tata with horrible packet loss 😕.
For me google drive is always 98-100 Mbps upload on 100 Mbps Fiber value plan.

@JB701 The Extreme-IX would be a private exchange to peer with. They are peering in NIXI which is Indian and Govt owned i suppose . They peer at four places(NIXI) which do not have big players like Fastly , AWS , Google , Microsoft , Netflix etc. NIXI Bangalore only has BSNL in their list 😑. How will you call that peering ? 😛
Considering the users in BSNL , they should atleast have a single 10 Gig link to any of Extreme IX points

Hopefully content providers peer over there . God knows what tedious paperwork Govt will have which may make potential peerings run away and serve private exchanges .
When the Lockdown started in March , the NIXI showed negligible traffic spikes whereas all the DE-CIX and Extreme IX showed high traffic

Update on the Tata route, BSNL switched to Airtel suddenly. Maybe someone
figured out something's gone wrong.

The route till Airtel is still a clusterf***, they sent me back and forth between Bangalore and delhi a 100 times till I ended up on Airtel.

@shashankb I'm just thankful BSNL is even at de-cix, and even a local Google cache🤤.
Can't take those things for granted, not on BSNL's network 😝.

@Bikram96 if it's completely down call your exchange, or visit them in person, they won't ignore that.

@Adithya They didn't address the complaint, not picking up calls either. I dunno something is wrong , probably on a strike or something.

Bsnl guys are always upto something lol
