BSNL Broadband seems to have blocked SSH Port 22 on their network

Can you please let them ssh is a important part of using internet and taking that away from broadband is a huge menace.
There are so many web developers using bsnl broadband for their websites, to file uploading and root access. So port 22 is important for web developers.

This is Rajakumar from Karnataka, 6 years user of BSNL.
All of sudden i got this issue and surprised to see the same working in other connections.

Wasted lot of time to check all the VPS.

No idea about the Geevi who taken the decision.
But definitely they need to reconsider.

This could be against net freedom to block a commonly used port.
They may have the rights to control the inbound,
but for sure they are not in the position to decide which port i am connecting outbound.

All of you who are affected by this issue, please raise complaints with BSNL, let them know it is really important to have SSH working for people who work remotely.

Lets ping them over twitter and also tag DOT over this issue. This is hilarious blocking ssh over no reason.

Hey Sri,

Yeah that's one of the option for github/ bitbucket. But what if you want to connect to Amazon EC2 or any other remote instances through SSH. There is no alternative. I am currently using my BSNL 3g network to connect to it. So what kind of decision is this, to let your mobile user access ssh and not broadband users. Does it make any sense. :)
