BSNL Fiber Broadband new plans starting from 1 April 2024

@MEGAN all ISPs and telecom companies monitor data as they are mandated by the Govt. to do so. :)

And BTW it happens even overseas in the US and EU. Read up about the "5 Eyes" on the Internet. All of them want companies like Facebook/WhatsApp Telegram, Signal etc to share their encryption codes to decipher messages passed between users. The companies have refused but I can't help but feel there's a backdoor somewhere. So use a VPN to avoid snooping on your traffic. We could of course see VPNs being banned but that's a different topic.

If you think Govt. snooping is exclusive to India or other developing country that's a mistake.

They've updated the plan in the bill that was generated today.

Website is still not updated for MH though.

Also, no clue on how to activate EpicON OTT that was added to the plan.

@Chip ya i know everyone sells our data, even vpns guys do so, its obvious , but what i was asking is about how the airtel and other some pvt guys tell not to use routers or modem within customers choice , as even one guy sued them and got his own modem or router ,did bsnl ever came out in daylight for doing this ? and lol its a well known fact data stealing(so called surveillance) occurs all around the globe. was curious if bsnl got ever caught in action and bought out like some private guys . any news on that ?

Don't know about it but I think last year or a year before that BSNL had suffered a data breach where their customer data has been leaked and sold on dark web (although just like the mobikwik data breach nobody talked about it and the news went to the graveyard because it is a sarkaari company).

I wonder what If this was Vi, Jio or Airtel... Or Paytm instead of Mobikwik... The news would have been huge.

Free VPNs sell your data but the paid ones generally don't do that. Note I said generally as there are cases of paid VPNs selling or disclosing data to law enforcement agencies etc. If you don't want to snooped upon best to stay off the Internet..yes and that's impractical nowadays.

The reason you cannot use your own ONT is due to standardisation policies of companies and of course compatibility reasons. Each company has its preferred makes/vendors for backend equipment, ONTs, OLTs, tranceivers etc. There's no bypassing this.

BSNL will snoop but I am sure they will hand over data to the Govt but not directly to some private company for data processing. Of course there are 'spies' within each Company that sell data. How do you think spam call centres get your phone number? :)

@unnecessary I'd reckon that BSNL's firewalls and cybersecurity to be at a lower level than that of Airtel etc. Cybersec is a serious business and requires $$. But BSNL with its budget and other constraints cannot match up. They don't have money to invest in infra as most of their revenues go in feeding the monster size labour force despite all the VRS, contract hiring etc. The deficit is made up by the Govt. I liken BSNL to a patient kept alive on life support.

Sad to see them this way but when I remember the old days when we had to wait for years for a phone line, exorbitant pulse rates, bribing the linesman to repair the phone..over all zero customer friendliness, I think karma came and bit them in the a$$. :D

@unnecsary ooh thanks about that bsnl , @Chip its not about me, i dont care about my data breach , i am talking generally ,whole picture aspect ,year 2020 news-- paid or free vpns use some server which cause data breach and selling data to whoever bids necessary figures. airtel -- a guy bypassed about airtel manadatory rule and bought his own modem router etc after winning from court against airtel . ya obvious thing spammers get numbers so easy from registered numbers in shopping sites or registered numbers from where ever we go offline places, salloon guys took my number once and i got call just at that evening hahah . also reliance offline shoping gets numbers for points buts its for them ;) lol , so any news on bsnl cyber security/firewall and airtel cyber security to compare or they keep it secret so no one should know what they using and it would help to tweak into it to steal ?
ya they were so slow those days , now recent years they are kidna responsible , fast , and week back i changed my sim to 4g - they were quick ! i dint expect that in sim wing ,cool , i am getting more happier now hahah ,reminds me the movie turbo(snail) in action lol , bsnl shifted to ward from icu i guess haha
new laws telling VPN companies to keep data for 5 years making them go out of india i see -- hmm everyone wants to know about everyone lol -in the name of national security .
