@rock_daring :It is really 2.4 MBps connection Mega bits per second.
I had checked with brother about the speed again. They have limited to 256 Max in our place itseems. They are coming up with the same speed in our area itseems.. dont know how far it takes. They are merging dataone.in and bsnl.in in kerala itseems.

Its 2.4 megabits (2.4 Mbps).

@rock_daring thanx dude...but hw ll i get 2 kno whether evdo is der in ma area o not..is it available everywer...m frm bangalore..stayin slightly outside de city..wen i asked wid bsnl ppl bout cdma network i got shocked cuz they doesnt even kno wat cdma is??? then after xplainin bout dat they sed no cdma network ova here..but i dunno he understood it o simply sed.. nw u r tellin no need of cdma network for dat..so hw dis evdo workz den??? i mean frm wer ir ll catch de signals???

2) is it workz nywer in bangalore?? here many r tellin dat v need to hv cdma tower...so hw can i get 2 kno whether in ma place cdma connectivety is der o not??? ***bsnl gsm signals r der***

1) 250 pm for unlimited service + 200 for renting of the card. That makes it 450 + taxes. Remember you need to pay this in advance - meaning you pay at the beginnin of Jan, for using till end Jan.
2) Yes, you need BSNL CDMA tower/signals. How to find out ... Easiest would be if anyone has a BSNL WLL Phone - take it to your place and check if it works and if so the signal strength. The respective outdoor office of the BSNL Exchange you are attached are also supposed to provide you this information.
3) Rs.1500/- is the deposit for taking the EVDO Card on rental basis.
4) No BSNL Landline or mobile is required to avail this service. You need a identity proof and address proof.
5) At the moment, I with just 1x and low signal strength in many areas - it may not be a better option than other mobile cards. However, when EVDO is introduced, I expect this service will win hands down. Also, BSNL is planning for more CDMA towers, and one is expected to come up shortly in BTM, which will increase the signal strength. Similarly in other areas, and nation wide too.

Like I said, BSNL Outdoor office folks are supposed to help you, or simply try to get someone who has the BSNL Tarang (WLL Phone) and check out the signals.

Don't go by this, you will be disappointed. There are enough places in the city where you will find the signal to be pretty bad. They are working on beefing up the infrastructure. Things can only get better.

Yesterday only got one new EVDO card..
1.U dont need any CDMA phones to use this.
2.In city range its good (heard from people using it).
3.In rural it depends and not that good.
4.Cost initial investment 1500Rs which BSNL people are telling refundable.
5.Rent not sure few are telling 650 (including modem rental) few are telling 850 + tax.
It is not activated so once activated i will give you further informations.So if anybody else using this for last few months can share your experience and billing details.

I have used b/B correctly. 258 kBps = 258 * 8 = 2064 kbps
I wish to also mention one thing that i think the service u have used at ur native place 1X service. For a proof check the dialer top part. If ur conected to the EVDO service it will show \"EVDO\" not \"1X\".

The confusion was because you posted, 2.4 MBps and not 2.4 Mbps, in your original post. Good to hear you get good speeds. We are still awaiting the launch of EVDO in Bangalore. Right now only CDMA 1x is available. BTW, can you confirm, the light you see on the EVDO card glow green.

Why are you depending on local exchange people. Even when i came this area, we were new to this place. go to the nearest CSC in bangalore. or any CSC. and tell them the issues. they will help you. If possible, go to Jayanagar CSC (Near 4th Block). They are the sweetest people i met in any customer care center. they give all the detailed info whether they can give WLL or other service.
As far as my knowledge WLL is mainly given for the customers who doesnt have Line feesibility. So i hope WLL will be there in your place !

Well.. If you know 4th block police station.. Go straight down towards BTM Ringroad... on the left side you will see first the telephone exchange. 200meters from there you will find CSC. Ask inside. Make sure you mention about the USB EVDO service....... surely they will help you.... (according to my knowledge) i stay in Bommanahalli.. near to Electronic City.. I use 900+ plan (adsl 256kbps unlimited) regardsappus
Any idea when bangalore will get EVDO ??had taken bsnl EVDO card for 7500 three month ago,but found the speed to be so pathetic. i stay in sanjayngar little inside. No bsnl broadband also . i always get 1X connectivity and never EVDO!!! anybody in bangalore get EVDO connectivity? enquired with bsnl CSC here. they are the rudest people i had met, they also have no clue...!!!I am thinking to juck it now...frustrated with the speed and connectivity. Though signal strength is OK but no speed as it always 1X connection.any idea/suggestion?
