Can you please let me know the above steps for Mac OS 10.6 and higher. I don't even have the network name (SSID) displaying to connect to. I click on Join Other Network - (Give my SSID/AP name as Network Name and select Security as WEP, I repeatedly get a Connection Time Out or It repeatedly keeps asking me for the password and I don't get to connect. Please let me know the steps I am missing.

Without security key, the connection times out. Where do I check MAC address? I also want to mention I am trying to connect using Airport and not Ethernet. Is there any detailed link which talks about this?

See this link and check the screen shots. at the end.

Only when you try to connect in WIFI mode without any cable connection, to laptop.
SSID name/ security key/ mac address white filter etc are mentioned.
Test laptop in wifi mode ONLY with this wifi router.

Next:
2. Your laptop with MAC OS 10.6 Do you see any other wifi SSID's in the WLAN network page ?

3. Airport(extreme ) is another wifi router ? wait .... checking
How do you connect this to AN1020 unit. ?
AN1020 LAN1 to "AirPort" WAN port. ( SSID ALSO used HERE should appear in LAPTOP )

Did anyone figure out why we have the USB port in this modem (VMC AN1020-21) and how to use it ? I spoke to the distributor and he had no clue.It is a USB port where we can plug in a Data card or some USB cable. - Does this modem support Data card as Internet source and distributes wifi ?

You can use the SAME modem to connect another computer to internet
Modem USB Port to computer USB port.
( rarely used )
Additional drivers are needed. If you have installation CD, confirm.

Thanks for your response, the USB port in the modem does not look like the usual port in all the modems.
it is a simple USB port where I can insert a USB stick. I tried connecting my external network HDD to it.

The port is a USB port not the Square USB which is found in all the modems.

I will take a picture of it when I am at the modem and post it.

Do you mean to say that I need a A/A USB cable ? Normal modems need A/B USB cables to connect.

IF we try to use A/A cable between two computers, we may end up burning the USB ports or even the power supplies. Same case here both MODEM and PC will be supplying power in their respective ports.

Do you have an Installation CD ?
Did you check any USB drivers listed in the Directory ?
If you are interested can download the USER manual from website of VMC)

Probably the USB PORT in the unit facility has been disconnected.
Router:U.S.B2.0 interface for device
Modem:USB 1.1.Interface for LAN Host.

Checked MT882/Prestige630/D-Link DSL2520U I have these units.
similar cable shown above to be used to connect to Computer USB port.

I tried connecting my external network HDD to it.
