Cops in India are now tracking torrent downloads to catch pirates

do you really understand how tracking works? private trackers are not going to save your ass. a VPN would.

Asked how exactly the Mumbai police would keep track of who is downloading what from the internet, Roy said: “We have a team of cyber experts and we have started a social media lab. We track trends and with the help of the internet service providers, we conduct random checks on the content that is being downloaded from certain sites.”
F**** THIS.Total vioalting of privacy and uspreme guidelines on privacy

ps:admin why arent you allowing me to post realtime?

are there laws related to privacy in india? or are you cooking your own? content creators are very well within their rights to track copyright infringement of their content online. they are not entering your homes to see what you are doing. they are getting the data from the ISPs which i am pretty sure is lawful.our government intercepts our calls. they forced blackberry to spy on all blackberry users in the country. and you are complaining about this.

OT: What about using a free VPN like Hotspot Shield? Though the speed is halfed.

What country are they based in? USA? That would not be good for obvious reasons.

I doubt the authenticity of the DNA report. they haven't given any name of the person or under what sections he was charged etc. seems like a paid article by the Anti-piracy group.
No other newspaper in mumbai has reported this. tabloids like mumbai mirror & mid-day would have splashed this news on their front page.
What the cop was saying was nothing new, already such laws existed in india since along time.
