Custom ROM for LG Optimus One and Motorola Defy?

Hi, I have a LG Optimus One and a Motorola Defy. I want to know how to install custom ROM on these two phone. It will be helpfull if you guide me with step by step (simple) process. also please inform me the best Cusotm ROM for these two phones (please provide link if possible)

I guess this is the same Defy that you are going to gift your brother.

I would suggest you not to install any ROM on Defy as people are facing bugs and issues every now and then.

The most famous ROM for Defy is CyanogenMOD 7
