between there supported device list contain nexus series also .. why nexus user will use the same as they are the first one to get the update .. specially nexus s being latest product ..

1) If your phone is supported by Cyanogenmod - it will enable you to take the backup of your stock ROM ...post this you can keep playing with the custom ROMS - almost NIL chance of bricking your phone (provided you know how to use the tools)
2) Nexus S gets the stock ROM before anyone else ....but Nexus S users also may want custom ROMS ...thus Cyanogen supports this phone
Its a very nice tool for people who like to experiment/play with different OS
interesting to see how this will affect the CM .. will we see few more release for other handet or they will restrict them self with samsung branded handset ...
