got the new UPS. disappointing piece of shit.

i was told that at 300W load, it would give me 7 hours of backup.

APC software says around 4 hours of backup now that the batteries are fully charged.

disaster of an upgrade.

----------

i am hoping that this is not correct because the software did not get much time to calculate the consumption rate. but i really doubt this would give me 7 hours of backup that i asked for.

total costing 23K by the way. i am running at just 30% load!

u have to lucky in order to use APC Ups :) i have an old br500 ups bought in year 2004, touchwood it just need battery every 3yrs (approx) and working flawless till date.On the other hand i have backup-UPS RS1000 bought in year 2008, this bast'd died as soon as warranty expires in 2010, i have taken extended warranty paying 2700/- annum and they replaced with a old & dirty piece. Now this April that extended is expires and the UPS began to do all short of drama, now its giving 10 minutes of backup instead of 45 minutes, got the battery checked, its perfect. APC need again 3200/- for 1yrs extended warranty :| Btw APC service is (was atlest till year 2007) excellent in Delhi NCR in Hyderabad they just suks to the core, will be at-lest 14 days wait time for some one will listen to your problem & come for visit. Was planing to go for a custom build sine-wave Microtech but that will lack in data port :(

this new ups has a web based interface considering it has the business edition support. very painful to use.

strangely... this UPS is charging from the Inverter. I would now have to get a power connection to my desk so that the UPS is not charged on Inverter and only gets charged on main supply. Do not want it to kill my fan!

this is the browser based control panel. damn. i miss the software. :(

just an update. my ups has been down since 8th of this month. they sent a replacement model. did not work out. they ordered a brand new replacement last week. it was supposed to arrive yesterday. i have been calling them as per their next delivery date... it is now supposed to arrive sometime today. i bet i would be calling them again tomm morning for another update. this is just like damini movie. all i get is tareek pe tareek. :D

Just a query.. can you post the rating of those batteries?
(The Ah and voltage rating)

Also, at 23k, there were much better deals available

btw, what happened to your old UPS? hadnt the battery got OK on its own?

----------

why would it kill your fan if it charges from the inverter?

the old UPS has been working great. i am currently using it which is ironic because this new UPS was supposed to replace the old one. the batteries i got are not the biggest types. looking at the bill. the UPS itself costs 12300. batteries are Exide 65AH... 2 units. 4500 each. man i thought batteries were expensive. here the UPS itself is the most expensive part. would call them again today as it rain yesterday and no one came.

The after sales of MICROTEK is pretty bad in our area (Mumbai, Kalyan and nearby areas). My vendor had recommended 'iball Nirantar' and i am using it from the past one year without any problem and the battery backup is pretty good. Be sure to check the after sales of MICROTEK in your area before getting one.

Microtek after sales is actually pretty good I was pretty surprised that guy would actually show up the next day of the complain...pretty good service in Delhi atleast..and even the UPS are pretty good :)

were u suggested to buy this UPS from your PCworld friend :P ?

ah man. i actually was in talk with another guy who deals in microtek. he had a much better offer in the same price range. too bad i fell for the APC branding once again and am suffering now.

well even APC UPS are suppose to be good...sad you had this problem lets see what the service guys tell you...

heh nope. the friend suggested going for a local solution with huge truck batteries.

the apc guy who came to check my old UPS... i asked him for a quotation for a new UPS and i was trapped.

i have been pretty happy with RS1000. except for the smaller batteries, it has been perfect. handling all kind of bullshit wrt power cuts, fluctuations and other mess.

the new UPS on the other hand failed in less than a week. and it is a much more expensive model.
