As per Supreme Court order, government cannot deny citizens of any service if they don't have AADHAR. As you all know, UIDAI is established by an Executive Order and not through any Parliamentary Act. So you can safely say that you don't have AADHAR even if you have, they cannot deny the service to you.

applying a gas connection through a local dealer was painful. the guy simply refused to take the application without aadhaar card. i filled up the form online hoping to bypass the bullcrap and the online website is now asking me to submit kyc forms to the same dealer lol. i have dropped the idea for now to apply for the connection.

i am worried because of the gag orders issued to them, if they have to complete some target they would keep coming back to irritate you

my theory is simple... as long as i can avoid getting into the trap, i would. the gas connection in my name would have resolved a few things at home. but i can live with it. my dad however is getting close to falling into the trap with the new recommendations for pension delivery. it's not mandatory but having aadhaar makes it slightly more convenient to get it now.

i hope the lpg guy calls me up. that would make my life easier. but the situation in gurgaon is such that he probably has hundreds of people seeking a new connection with aadhaar in their hands. the message on the lpg website where i check the status of my applications talks about something like a waiting list. so i am guessing i am not going to get any calls in the near future

thank god for induction cookers. i do not really need lpg for my own personal needs.

is electoral card and adhaar link is compulsory?

can getting UID be avoided and election card can still be valid?

BLO came just now , and telling they are linking both , but we dont have UID at home for any member at all

An Election commission official visited, had come to collect voter Id and aadhar details as part of drive to link them.

it's not compulsory. so no. do not get aadhaar until the government finally manages to make it compulsory for something that you need. despite supreme court's guidelines.

Letters for 2 years, SOS to PM, Election Commission still awaits EVM papertrail funds

IN A letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi four months ago, the Election Commission sought urgent release of funds to procure enough Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines to cover all polling stations ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections in 2019. The EC has sent over 10 reminders to the government on the matter, since June 2014, and the letter to Modi by Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi, on October 25, 2016, was an SOS of sorts. The CEC very rarely writes directly to the PM, with its communication to the government on electoral matters normally limited to Law and Home ministries.

In his letter to Modi, Zaidi wrote, “I’m writing to draw your kind attention to the crisis that may occur during the next General Election to Lok Sabha in 2019, if required numbers of replacement Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and new Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) are not produced in time by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), the two defence PSUs.”

Government suggested EC should talk with private companies to manufacture these machines lol. Anil Ambani can probably get the contract for the same.

The Sunday Express has learnt that on July 20, 2016, the Union Cabinet had at a meeting considered the procurement of VVPATs, but it was decided that the EC should be asked to explore the feasibility of roping in private manufacturers as BEL and ECIL have limited capacity.
The EC later turned down the suggestion citing “sensitivity of the job”. In December 2016, the poll panel recommended two other PSUs, namely Indian Telecom Industry in Bangalore and Central Electronics limited in Ghaziabad, to enhance production capacity.
