Excitel Broadband: Slow Internet Speeds to Many Servers and Locations

^ It's Mbps right?

It's Pure Shit. What's your location in Delhi?

I used to get full speed on Blizzard. But I am getting this speed now:

Clearly something is wrong with my connection now.

Just 1-2 week back only, I updated the Blizzard and I was getting fine speed.

Excitel to Excitel is 50 Mbps but Excitel to any other server is not 50.

It's mostly 1-10 Mbps only.

I have tested AWS, DigitalOcean and many other ISPs's speedtest.

If Excitel to Excitel is 100% fine, it means something is wrong within the backend of Excitel and not my area.

It can be that something is specifically wrong with my connection too (since Excitel can change the route of the connection dynamically like mine happened when I tested Port-Forwarding).

@philip marlowe if you could help.

Speed from Singapore DO servers is better than Bangalore, I couldn't hit more than 40Mbps on Bangalore server but was able to hit 80Mbps on Singapore server.

My speed is shit for every DO server. Hardly getting 200 Kb/s

And it's for almost all the servers and services and websites except for very few such as Google Drive. Since, Google has caching and peering with Excitel.

Except for Excitel to Excitel. All of the servers are shit (very rare they show speed). I am seeing very poor downloading and uploading speeds on multiple servers. Only the peered server shows good upload.

Note for Excitel Fellow Users: If you're using Excitel, please do the DigitalOcean Speed Test in the noon.

Anything around early morning / late night is useless since I just asked 2-3 friends of mine and they sent me screenshots.

They are also getting 1-5 Mbps speed only on Digital Ocean.

Secondly, they are facing the issue with multiple servers too such as Jio Mumbai, Geocity, Gigatel (randomly).

Sometimes MNR is full 100% bandwidth, sometimes it's messed up.

According to me, it's a issue of Excitel's backend (not just local area, but whole Delhi).

Possible Causes:

1. Network Congestion because of over-selling. (Happened with Hathway last year)
2. Peering / Routing Issues.
3. VSNL is fucked up.
4. Extreme-IX is fucked up.

I was shocked to see that Excitel to Extreme-IX speedtest is poor too.

All of these friends of mine lives in Delhi-NRC (East, West, Gurgaon).

Over that, @JB700 is using some other ISP but that ISP is somewhat inspired or reselling Excitel's Bandwidth only (maybe JV) and facing the same footprint and behavior as I am.

I have asked @GUNNYJEE to submit the Digital Ocean Test done in Noon so that it can rule out. Since the tests he published didn't include Digital Ocean.

Right now, the routing / connectivity of Excitel is so bad that I was trying to make Zomato Payment using Axis Bank Credit Card (Paytm as Payment Gateway Partner) and SBI Credit Card as (SBI's own Payment Gateway) and none of them were loading.

I had to shift to Airtel and it happened instantly.

@philip marlowe

To back my every claim here, Airtel Broadband is working as fine as it should for every mentioned speedtest node and Digital Ocean. It's surely an issue within the Excitel only. (Airtel doesn't even have peering with anyone)

People with Netflix were complaining the same. (Again, peering is involved)

P.S.: Are we already seeing Jio effect?

Edit ( 1:28 AM): This is the first time, I am sure that Excitel's Peering and Routing is messed up since it's happening with multiple people at multiple locations throughout Delhi (East, West and even Gurgaon).

Speeds on most of the servers are back including DigitalOcean.

You can clearly see, where at mid-night even the SINGLE are working awesome, at the morning, noon and evening.. Multi is failing to provide the speeds for not just me but a lot of customers (living in different areas) of Excitel.

I hope I have provided enough of proof that. Something's wrong with the Excitel itself. And tomorrow it will again go back to ashes.

As I said, Speeds will go into the Ashes. It's happening now.

In some hours, Speedtest.net and Digital Ocean will show more speed drops.
