Fair Usage Policy on Airtel IPTV Plans #airtelsucks

alright. this is sheer madness.
the guy just called me up. i assumed that he had answers to my IPTV FUP related queries.
but no.
he started talking about some billing dispute. something like i had called in with some request about plan change. my plan was not changed. my bill came very high. it was airtel's fault. do i have some proof that i had filed a request for a plan change. stuff like that.
apparently he mistook me for some other customer. this was when i stated clearly that i have NO BILLING RELATED issue with airtel. i just wanted to know details on their new IPTV plans.
took him a while to realize that. he said he would recheck my request in the system and recheck the mail i had sent him and get back to me in a while.
Dude don't tell me that you gave your number to the Airtel Presence team in response to that stupid automated reply they sent you on Twitter. I was like WTF, I just informed you that I was dissatisfied with a company policy. How are you going to resolve my dissatisfaction by calling me up? Are you going to discard all these plans and introduce new ones especially for me?
I don't think the Airtel Presence guys even bothered to click the link in the given tweet. They just send automated/scripted replies asking for phone numbers.

and airtel customer care and YOU KNOW WHO. YOU KNOW WHO put it on priority list with airtel presence folks i assume. and thus the calls began. :evil:

This 15 GB Fair Usage Policy does not make any sense for 1 mbps speeds with 1299 monthly commitment. I can sort of understand the low Fair Usage Policy on plans which are less than 1000 rupees per month. but not on these plans.
so, basically what airtel is saying that we WANT you to migrate to another service provider.
In my case it's not that bad since I am on 1499 plan( which is 200 rupess more expensive than 1299) which apparently still has 100 GB Fair Usage Policy. if that is also reduced to 15 GB Fair Usage Policy, I will have no choice but say BYE BYE airtel, hello MTNL.

The guy called up again. And this time he had the answers.
He actually said that the FUP limit is 100GB.
And speed gets half after that.
Well, he started with something like... if you are on 64/128/256kbps plans... there is no FUP applicable (WTF!).
on 512kbps and 1mbps... FUP is 100GB. and speed gets half after that.
....
i asked him if he can send this information to me on EMAIL.
he said that they have a software backend with all the details. he would send me a screenshot of it with the data i am looking for.
HEE HAW HAW. how many of you believe that he is going to be able to do that?
i plan to do the same.

I always make a point to ask such guys their name and their position at the company and what authority do they have to backup their claims. Usually these guys are just pissed off customer relations employees who have no communication whatsoever with the departments that formulate the policies of the company. In the end, these guys never turn out to be right, instead they just boast around giving contradictory information to different users.

I am assuming FUP will include both upload/download. Did you ask him if data transfer during night is also counted for FUP?
I will wait a day or two before deciding to switch to 1299 if FUP is indeed 100 GB for 1299.
Also, I am assuming games on demand & PC secure will NOT be free on 1299. I must remember to unsubscribe from these services.

airtel has got two unlimited broadband plans for delhi,these plans correspond to the iptv plans in term of FUP and download speed.these are browser 899(with 512 kbps speeds and 8 GB FUP) and swift 1099(with 1 mbps and 15 GB FUP).now to think off that for just 100/200 bucks airtel would be providing us with IPTV and 100 GB data download would be wishful thinking.BTW mumbai has got almost similar plans,so a goof up by airtel in printing these plans seems highly unlikely.
