I know that the new plans have consistent speeds.

I just wanted to get a clarification if the speed downgrade due to crossing FUP will apply only during daytime or night. i.e I was hoping that the speed would resume to full speeds during night.

I guess I am clutching at straws here...

Thanks for your info on all this... :)

why do you think that they would continue to give you higher speed during the night time? i do not get it! are you in denial mode. :D come out of it. order MTNL Broadband today. apply for a disconnection.

at least call up airtel and get to their customer retention department if they still have one.

wrote a blog post. 256kbps is the new face of Airtel Broadband #airtelsucks feel free to retweet guys.

I got a call just a couple of minutes ago. Someone from Airtel Presence team. He stated that the reply sent to me is absolutely correct. This is the latest company policy on FUP limits. If you have been following this thread... The mail stated that the FUP policy would reduce the speeds by 50% after the limits are touched. I told him that the plans accessible from airtel.in website are contradictory to what the mail said. All the plans are going down to 256kbps after the FUP limit is touched. He said he would have to go through the details on the website and get back to me. He also asked me what my personal query was. Told him about the IPTV 1299 plan. What is the FUP limit and what speeds would I get after I touch the limit. He would get back to me on this too. let's see what happens now.

please do keep us posted. I am very interested on the specifics of this 1299 plan. Also, my plan has not been migrated to the new 1299 plan as of yet. I am still on the old 1499 plan. I haven't recieved a call from customer care since I made a request to migrate last Thursday.Honestly, after this FUP fiasco, I am hoping that they do not call and my plan remain at 1499...

hehe. maybe you can call and say that the request was submitted by some prankster who is playing on behalf of airtel getting their customers transfered to newer shittier plans. :D

he asked for 30 minutes. 40 minutes now. looks like i am not going to get any more calls today from the airtel presence team. :)

dang!I spoke too soon.Since the past few minutes, I have started getting 1 mbps speeds. I guess my plan was just migrated to the new 1299 plan.:ishock:I am actually pi$$ed that my speeds have doubled! All because of this FUP crap!never in a million years, I thought I would be angry that my speeds were doubled! go figure!:rolleyes:do the airtel people stalk these forums?:ishock:

hehe. well it is your turn to do something for us (me) :D use the connection to download 15GB of stuff to see if your speeds go down to 256kbps.call!

ha ha!don't worry. I will drink up 15 GB in like 3 days since I p2p 24x7. :bowtoyou:I will be psoting about my 256 K speeds next week.

alright. confirmed now. all the plans mentioned on their website are correct. speed goes down to 256kbps after FUP. the mail they sent me about speed getting half only applies to special plans that are of course non existing. he did mention that speed does go to half on their business plans. for consumer plans the existing packages mentioned on their website are correct. so pudu... after 15GB, your speeds are likely to drop to 256kbps. sadness.

oh well. since the billing cycle starts from 27th every month, i am hopefully getting 1 mbps speeds till the end of this month.I will report back when my speeds are downgraded to 256 kbps.I may have to finally think of MTNL as an option. 256 k is just not going to cut it for me.If I am able to get 1 mbps speeds at night, I would probably still stay with Airtel. Otherwise, it is likely I will switch over to MTNL.This sucks as I hate MTNL sarakari babu log.
